Any 'solid' literature or academic stuff for AB's?

Apart from the good stuff from the Bents?
Everything seems to be over 30 years old that I have found, and sometimes you just don't want to read it after the preface telling you 'your a dysfunctional waste of space with a tendency to paedophilia'.
I get the paraphilia description, but that's not me or apparently many AB's.
I'm a non sexual regressive aged 0-6 months for crying out loud!!
It's long overdue for some empirical studies and sensible results👍😁

I was at the bookstore this past weekend, I was very tempted to type ABDL into the computers to see if there were any books in the store that related to 'ABDL'.

I didn't though, there were a lot of people in the store!

That's definitely part of the problem.
And yet type in LGBTQ and no one would care.
Times have changed since the 70's, surely there is something more useful and insightful since then???

Good question! I'm not super familiar with the state of research, but there's been some interesting (or at least more modern) stuff coming mainly out of the University of Minnesota by Zamboni and grad students working with him like Gibson and Hilleren. Here's what I've run across so far that should be available online - and no, I haven't read these all! The Hanson article doesn't look too great, but the others might be more unbiased...

Sadly, it appears that Dr. Zamboni passed away in 2019, so it remains to be seen if anyone else takes up his research or pursues it further. It looks as though Madero might be doing just that with her dissertation, though.

There are also a few books that might be of interest:
Will be interested to hear what folks find in all this! Again, I think it's difficult to get scientists away from describing it as a paraphilia, but hopefully these more modern articles are at least moving in the right direction.

Dylan Lewis has some interesting ideas, halfway through reading his Adult Baby book, he also recommends Rosalie Bent and her book Theres Still a Baby in my Bed. They take a very different angle than the traditional this is just a fetish theory, and focus on it being more of an identity issue. I think they are on to something, this is a fetish for some, bit for others it goes deeper.

I would have to say that LGBT+ is not in the same category as ABDL. That being said, I do agree there should be more academic studies - from reputable institutions - out there about ABDL.

Who would've known? It wouldn't be a big screen ....enough for others to see.

I've never found that in UK bookstores. I wonder why?

First of all, Rosalie is not an academic and neither is Dylan. And, for Gods sake, I have never seen or heard an academic mention the “p” word in association with ABDL. The only people mentioning that are some people on here 🤭 and assholes on the internet who are ignorant.

Check out the website understanding infantilism by BitterGrey. Also, missing from above was a dissertation published by DPF by Thomas Speakman. There’s a dearth of studies on ABDL because most people don’t want to be outed and have made peace with it as they’ve gotten older (in other words, they don’t want to change, no pun intended).

No nothing and there is an erroneous entry in DSM which is used by psychiatrists - and the bents repeat themselves over their books,

I'll look up ABDL at the library next since there's an online one

Thanks spaz! I was feeling pretty rubbish reading all those posts! It's sometimes like "we are all bad ☹️" and I know that is not true. Thanks for your input , I was starting to feel rubbish.. we are complicated but we are not yucky people..

The fact that Dylan Lewis and Rosalie Bent are not professionals is part of what makes them refreshing reads compared to the dogma of this is al just a fetish. I would rather read someone who actually has experience as an AB or there loved one than the cold and often wrong beliefs of a professional that has been influenced by previous beliefs like this paraphilic infantilism. I have yet to see anyone from the professional circle describe this scene in a way that I would identify with.
I had forgotten Terrence Grey's paper on this, its well written and I do like it, haven't messed around on Bittergreys site in a very long time.

I would think the more people the better for something like that...
It's not likely anyone will be paying any attention while actually doing it - and IF some worker happens to spot it in a log, even if you are still there, too many to even guess who might have done it.

I remember seeing a book a while back. It was titled something like "My Babies". It was written by a psychiatrist who tried regression as a form of therapy with her patients and was writing to recommend it as a method. Obviously this isn't for kink purposes, but I find a lot of ABDL is effectively self therapy and done for the same reason. I didn't get the book so i can't tell you too much about it, but I think the idea of regression therapy does exist, so you might find more on it

I have Rosalie's first book and there are some useful parts to it, although other parts are cringe worthy. My wife read it and I basically had to highlight the sections that applied to me. There was one part in the continence section that really hit home for me where she wrote, "Some people spend all their lives constantly trying to stay dry. If they don't regularly think about it, wet beds or pants ensue." That would be me and not just wet, but messy too. Some people on here might think that sounds great, but it actually sucks.

All the non-fiction literature out there has biases and probably will not apply to everyone. These include surveys, first-person ABDL viewpoints, spouse's of ABDL's viewpoints, clinical accounts, etc. BTW, the guy I mentioned above is Thomas Speaker (not Speakman). In his dissertation, he made a strong case that psychosexual infantalism was not a fetish, based on the psychological definition of the word. In short, like anything you read, it's best to take in the information with knowledge about the source (along with shortcomings and caveats) and the intended audience.

Do yu have any links for Thomas Speakers dissertation ?
I have yet to read Rosalies book, I just know of it from what Dylan Lewis wrote on it in his book Adult Baby. I'm kinda looking for alternative views to the stuff I learned in the late 90's and early 2000's. It's more than a fetish for me.

As someone currently working on my dissertation... I can't imagine writing and presenting a dissertation on abdl... Partially because a large portion of a dissertation is literature review and background information to set the stage for how your work adds to the current state of knowledge. There just doesn't seem to be much knowledge, it must make writing a comprehensive dissertation difficult. Then the thought of delivering an oral defense of such a dissertation before the graduate school and dissertation committee... Nerve-wracking.

Amazon have quite a wealth of books on the subject, from the Bent's collection through to the expected full on porn aspect. A safer way to search and you can often down load a free sample to see if it's what your looking for.

Well thanks to all the responses so far👍
I am going to read every one mentioned!
The Bents books are great in terms of actual ABDL + SO experience, and I found their Adult Babies: psychology and practice, to be very insightful and even more so re-reading it as I come to terms with me over the years.

Psychology of my AB side is a tough one to work out (non sexual, totally disassociate when 0-6mnth baby, and have a 18-36mnth little, all in the same head space!), was abused by mother, BUT had the whole nappy and dummy need from WAY before then.

Any one else got input, please let's have it, I am thinking of making up a bit of a bibliography for access by all you lovely people and any questioning newbs here on Adisc, but I need far more than the stuff I already had.

THANK YOU AGAIN👍😁
