ViewsUser notesFrom ADISC Answers Wiki
What are usernotes?Usernotes are found in a member's profile. They are little notes posted about that user. Usernotes can be both positive and negative, and generally either warn other members about the user, or sometimes they can show that a user is trust worthy. User notes are fairly important, and can help you decide if you want to trust someone or not. The main purposes of usernotes are :
Usernotes after background checksAfter a user is background checked, they may receive a usernote. This may be because they are banned, if this is the case the usernote will explain the reason for the ban in slightly more detail than the "reason for ban" comment in the profile. If the user hasn't been banned, the usernote may be urging caution towards that user. For example, the user may suspected of lying about their age, but there might enough proof. Be cautious of users with these kind of usernotes, but don't worry too much because if they truly dangerous they would have been banned. Who can post usernotes?Only moderators can post usernotes. If you want to post a usernote, please contact a mod by using the requests forum. What to post:Posting useful things like "I've met this person in real life, and they are who they say they are" is good. For warning usernotes, posting a clear warning with evidence to back it up is good, for example "the user is lying about their age, see this site for proof..." or warning people about users who act antisocially on IM programs. What not to post:Personal opinions are not helpful, for example "I hate this user, he is so annoying". Usernotes must be justified and helpful. If you see a usernote that you feel is unfair, report it in the requests forum ASAP. Who can see usernotes?Only VIPs and mods can read user notes, but not their own. VIPs must never share information in usernotes with non-VIPs. You cannot see your own usernote. |
