How do I make a request?

Simply scroll down on the main page. Under "Special Forums" you should see the Requests forum. Click it and make a new topic in the requests forum. It should be noted that you will only be able see the threads that you create in the requests forum, but mods and admins can see all threads so that they can help you.

In order to keep the requests forum tidy for the mods, it is very helpful to close your thread when you are satisfied with the response. Also, if it seems like the request has been resolved or if the thread has been open a while and the original requester forgot about the request mods may close the thread. Mods may also close the thread for other reasons at their discretion.

On the other hand sometimes threads will be opened when more posts need to made to the thread. In this case the thread can be reopened the same way as it was closed, only in this case it will open the thread rather than close it.

What should the requests forum be used for?

Reported Posts

When someone clicks the Report Post link for any thread it automatically makes a new thread that the reporter can access in the requests forum.

Requests for rep to be reviewed

You can request that reputation you were given can be checked for validity. Please note that most rep is not removed unless it breaks a rule or no valid reason is given. Most rep that a review is requested for does not get removed as while it may seem a bit unfair or illogical at times, rep tends to stay as it is unless its clearly breaking the rules.

Also rep is periodically reviewed whether a review is requested or not so if its not hurting you (aka you have enough rep that losing a point or 2 isn't going to affect you on the forums) it is asked that you do not ask for a special review and simply let it be edited when the admin reviews all rep.

Other Requests

Anything else can be requested in the requests forum, including, but not limited to:

  • Asking for your thread to be moved.
  • Having certain posts edited or deleted. This is only allowed in certain cases, such as for story edits, or removing posts you may find too informative about yourself.
  • Requesting to add user notes to somebody.
  • Requesting account activation. (Some accounts need to be activated by Moo.)
  • Asking the Mods a direct question.
  • Reporting misbehavior in the FlashChat or Live chat.
  • Reporting abusive PMs.
  • Reporting minor problems with the site, for example typos. Most discussions about the site and problems go in the administrative forum, however.
  • Reporting pictures in the gallery that break the rules.
  • Requesting a username change.
  • And everything else that involves you asking/informing the mods/admin about something!

Why was my Request thread closed?

Thread was closed by original poster

Any user can choose to close their own threads in the requests forum. In fact if the issue has been resolved the user is encouraged to close their own thread, as this tells the mod it is fixed and saves mods the trouble of closing it.

Thread has been closed because request has been completed/Resolved

If a moderator takes action that appears to fix/resolve the request then the mod will generally close the thread. This is used when mods take action on a request or answer with a reply that should allow the user to resolve the issue on their own. If the action the mod took did not fully resolve the issue or you believe it was closed in error for any reason then you can reopen the thread using the thread tools on the top of the thread.

Thread has been closed because issue is considered unresolvable

This is generally used when your asking the mods to do something against the rules of the site and/or is unfeasible. The most common form of this is a request to remove negative rep that is denied. You are always welcome to reopen the topic to try to make a case for why what you want should be done. This is generally denied, because after the mods debate, their decision is final.

Thread has been closed due to original poster not responding

This is generally used after several days have passed, or at least three days, however a week is more common. This means that the mods requested more information from you in order to respond effectively to the request, but you have not responded. The thread then becomes closed in order to keep the forum tidy and keep active issues at the top. If you come back and are ready to actively respond, reopen the topic and provide the information that is being requested so that mods can take what actions need to be taken.
