Forum Tips
From ADISC Answers Wiki
Pro-Tips
- This site is based around the principle of user choice. You have many options that you can use to customize the way things work for you. Try exploring the UserCP (User Control Panel) to set things up the way you like. Don't be afraid to click on things to find out what they do. You might learn something useful.
- Going create a thread? Remember: the better the thread, the better the replies will be. Put effort into the new thread when you post it, and people are more likely to put effort into their replies.
- Found a problem with the site? First, check the Administrative Stuff forum to make sure that it isn't an issue that is already known about and being worked on. Then, if it isn't a work in progress, post a thread in the Requests Forum asking for the webmaster to investigate it.
- If you have a problem with another member, there are many ways of resolving it. If the dispute is personal, try using the ignore command. If they're causing a problem for other forum users, report their offending posts. Negative Reputation should only be used as a last resort and can be given by using the reputation button (
) under their avatar.
- If you're a new member then post an introduction for yourself in the Greetings Forum! We won't bite (honest!), and hugs may be on offer.
- There is no safe, fast way to become incontinent. The only way to safely become incontinent is to stay in diapers 24/7 and use them for everything, until you "forget" how to control yourself. This usually takes a year or two. Quick short cuts to incontinence (like enemas) are often dangerous to your health.
- Coming out as a TB (Teenbaby) or DL (Diaper Lover) to your parents is usually a bad move. Once done, you can't undo it, and it will affect your relationship with your parents for the rest of your life. Plus, most parents are NOT supportive of their teens using diapers, even for harmless stress-relief. If you can, wait until you are at University/College (and living away from your parents) before you start using diapers. If you can't, take steps to ensure they don't find out until both you and they are ready to know.
- Please don't complain if your girlfriend/boyfriend knows about and accepts your diaper usage, but refuses to change you. Frankly, you are VERY lucky to have someone that accepts it at all! Don't be pushy with trying to get other people to participate in your kink. The last thing you want is to get on their nerves and lose a true friend because you pushed them too hard.
- Please don't use a lot of baby talk on the forums (unless it is part of a roleplay thread). The reason is that a lot of us find baby-talk unnecessarily hard to read. For similar reasons, please use the Firefox (google it!) web browser, as it has a built-in spellchecker which can really help you when posting to forums.
Tools and Utilities
- You can use the "Search" button to locate interesting topics. This is an especially good idea before you post a new thread, as you might find old, relevant threads that you want to read. If you do find old but still relevant threads, you can link to them in your post by typing [thread]XXX[/thread], where XXX is the thread's number (shown in the URL when you're browsing the thread).
- You can use the "Subscribe to Thread" option in the "Thread Tools" drop-down menu if you want to be kept informed when someone replies to a thread. If you subscribe with email notification, then the forum will email you when new posts are made to the thread. If you subscribe without email notification, you can still click on your UserCP to get a list of which subscribed threads have had new posts since you last read them.
- You can create a private album in the gallery system, by assigning it a password. Only the people who you give the password to will be able to view images in that gallery.
- Pressing the "Ignore" button on a user's profile stops you seeing their posts. It also blocks them from private messaging you or reading/commenting on your blog. Use this as a quick fix if someone is really getting on your nerves.
- Want to add something to an existing post? Instead of making a new post, use the "Edit" button. This button will allow you to edit your post and add/remove things from it as you see fit. Bear in mind however that you can only edit your posts for at most a few days after you make them.
Features
- Most posts have a reputation button (
) which you can use to reward posts which you think make the forum a better place to be, or discourage posts you feel are spam or in poor taste. Clicking on this button brings up a window for you to enter your scoring, and a reason for that scoring.
- The "Blogs" link at the top left of the page not only allows you to view other peoples' blogs. It also allows you to create and customize your own.
- Want to add images, links, etc to your forum posts? You can! Our forum supports BBCode, a markup system like HTML (but much simpler!) which allows you to add these things to your posts.
- Please feel free to try out our IRC chat. See this page for instructions and information on how to access it.
General
- Unless you have a 21 inch waist and are under 80 pounds, Pampers size 7 will NOT fit you.
- We are a friendly community here at ADISC, and we ask that you be polite / courteous to others when you post.
- If you have a bunch of spare cash, why not donate some to ADISC? It costs money to run this site and donations are greatly appreciated!
- Why not add us to your bookmarks? "CTRL D" will do this quickly in most browsers.
- Don't hide diapers under your bed. This is the first place any mother will look.
- If you feel a burning desire to be babied 24/7, try asking someone who has had kids about a baby's typical day. You will quickly find that this lifestyle might be a welcome break for a few hours, but would quickly become a nightmare if you were trapped in it for a long period of time.
- If you use diapers yourself, be courteous to the people around you by making sure you don't let your room or house become smelly. Bear in mind that you become used to things you smell regularly, and this means you're less likely to notice them. Other people, however, WILL notice.
- Be careful about claiming to be incontinent when you're not. It might seem like an easy way for you to explain your diaper use to other people... but it can backfire. Telling your parents this might make them take you to a doctor for "testing". Telling your boss this might get you fired, or mean that you had to wear diapers constantly at work to avoid letting your boss find out you lied to him. Telling your family might not work at all because they might know you well enough to know when you're lying. If you use diapers, it is generally best to ensure that only other AB/DL/IC people know about this.
- If you don't already, get Firefox the web browser. Not only does it have a built-in spell-checker to help you improve your posts, it also has much better privacy options than IE, thus helping to protect the privacy of what you do online. Best of all it is less vulnerable to viruses, worms and other problems. This may not seem a big deal now. However, using Firefox today could save you the humiliation of giving your computer loaded with AB/DL stuff to a computer repair shop in future, when it succumbed to a virus infection.
