While footed pajamas may not be an ideal outfit for infantalism, they do give a wonderful childish feel. They are also very warm and comfortable, especially in the winter months.

What are Footed Pajamas?

Footed pajamas (also known by many other synonyms and trade names) are a type of especially warm sleeping garment worn primarily during the winter in the United States and Canada. The garment is worn especially by infants and young children, but larger versions can be found online as well as stores such as Target.

Typically, but not always, the blanket sleeper consists of a loose-fitting, one-piece garment of blanket-like material, enclosing the entire body except for the head and hands, although some sleepers have "mittens", which cover the hands, and just as well some sleepers have hoods to cover the [back] of the head.

While no single feature is universal, features distinguishing a blanket sleeper from regular pajamas usually include:

• One-piece construction with long sleeves and legs.
• Attached bootees enclosing the wearer's feet.
• Composition from relatively thick, heavy fabric.

Although any sleeping garment with some or all of these characteristics could be called a blanket sleeper, the term is most commonly applied to a range of styles that deviate relatively little from the same basic design.

While footed pajamas are widely thought of as something worn only by the very young, blanket sleepers are also sometimes worn (in decreasing order of frequency) by school-age children, teens, and even adults.

Though many countries worldwide use footed, one-piece garments as infant sleepwear (albeit with different fabrics and styles), the specific range of styles with which the term blanket sleeper is usually associated, the term "footed pajamas" itself, and the phenomenon of children older than infancy wearing footed, one-piece sleeping garments, are all largely unique to North America.

The majority of the footed pajamas are made with polar fleece, but they also have chenille, micro fleece and terry cloth. Their footless pajamas are made with cotton flannelette. Not only do they have generic footed pajamas, they also have ones with drop down seats, "sticky" feet for better traction, one piece footless, and pajamas with hoods.

Pajama City is another only footed pajama site. Their prices are slightly cheaper than the previous sites mentioned. Their packages are sent in a silver-type package, with the company URL on it, so it wouldn't be a great place for discreet shipping. They ship internationally using UPS.

There is a wider variety for types of material used. The materials they have are fleece, velvet, flannel, and waffle knit. They also have drop seat, and pajamas with jacket-style pockets.

Landsend

Landsend.com is a regular (not AB) online/catalogue clothing store that produces a range of quality childrens footed pajamas during winter seasons at affordable prices. Typically made of durable microfleece, their range of one-piece childrens footed pajamas will fit small adults up to about 5'7" maximum. The fit can vary in the range and from year to year, although they are more snug than Target brands. In the 2007/2008 range they introduced print versions up to size 16.

Note the feet on their products are also smaller than Target.

Landsend also produce two-piece footed pajamas that are a looser fit and could fit adults up to 6 feet.

Of benefit perhaps also is the fact that Landsend offer a lifetime unconditional return policy.

The All-in-one Comapny

The All-in-one Company is a UK based site that produces custom made footed pajamas for children and adults. Not specifically (or obviously) an AB site, its products are aimed at individuals and families who want fun and warm pajamas. Their range includes options for hoods (with optional ears!), back or front zips, pockets (iPod pockets too!), feet and mittens. Fleece and thicker towelling/terry style products are available.

Sizes are generous, and even the largest child (age 13-14) size will easily fit a small adult (5'7" or smaller, which is worth considering for cheaper prices. However they have a wide adult range also, and sizes are customizable (even on the feet).

eBay

Many footed PJs are available on ebay. Some are used condition, some brand new. Of the kids PJs, most appear to be from places like Target.

Many sellers will ship outside the US and this can be a cheap way of obtaining footed PJs for overseas buyers. Also, privately shipped items may have cheaper shipping options and are less likely to attract local customs fees. You'll find many custom designs on eBay, so be sure to check that they are a sizing that'll fit you.

Stores

Target

Target stores are known to sell footed pajamas during the winter season in America. They do not have kinds oriented towards adults, but their child sizes could fit some smaller adults. If you are under 6 feet, you may be able to fit them (5'7" or smaller is ideal for size 14/16 products). They are much cheaper than what you can find online, slightly better constructed, and they may be easier to obtain for some people.
