A fetish is a sexual attraction or arousal gained from a certain type of object. Fetishes are very wide and diverse, but many of them have similar attributes. Overview

Fetishes are often a natural occurrence. They may or may not be triggered by events during childhood or teenhood, but are almost always discovered during the teen years approximately around the time of puberty. There is much controversy as to whether fetishes can be acquired or not, but many agree that diaper fetishes in particular can occur as a result of non-sexual diaper wearing.

Fetishes seen around ADISC

Though ADISC is primarily a community centered around infantilism, there are several different fetishes that can occur here.

Diapers

By far the most common fetish at ADISC is diapers. Since most people here are adult babies (infantilists) and there are known links between infantilism and diaper fetishes, this is a very common thing to see around ADISC. Diaper fetishists, often called diaper lovers or DLs, enjoy diapers very much for the inner feel of them (i.e. the feeling of the diaper around the genitals and such); ABs may enjoy this as well but primarily enjoy the warmth of the diaper and the feel of it on the outside.

Due to the nature of diapers, people (especially males) may experience sexual arousal when wearing diapers but may not be diaper lovers. This is because any compression of the genitals will often lead to arousal, no matter what is actually pushing up against that area.

Bondage (BDSM)

A few people around ADISC are also into BDSM, a combined acronym that refers to bondage and discipline (B&D), dominance and submission (D&S), and sadism and masochism (S&M). BDSM is sometimes related to infantilism and diapers. Infantilism for some people ideally involves being treated as a powerless baby under the complete control of a caregiver. Diapers can be a part of this but are also sometimes used as an element in bondage sessions.

Watersport

Another fetish that some people are into is Watersport. Watersport is the act of wetting oneself for enjoyment or for sexual pleasure, like wetting their pants. This fetish is also common in BDSM and diapers due to someone wetting their diaper, or being forced to wet themself in BDSM.

Contrast of diaper fetishes with infantilism

Though a person may discover their infantilism at an early age - 6 for many people - the sexual aspect of diapers is often not discovered until about 12 or 13. Infantilism and diaper fetishes, while often seen together, are often different psychological processes.
