If we overhear an adult diaper change in a public restroom, and only one diaper is involved, then either the person is probably an AB/DL or we missed the other diaper.

One thing that many AB/DLs do that few incontinent people don't is change into or out of a diaper. One diaper. Many AB/DLs will put a diaper on, when they weren't wearing one before, or take one off and not put another on. Many incontinent people would take one diaper off and immediately put another on. Two diapers.

There are, of course, exceptions. For example, it isn't rare for AB/DLs to wear one diaper after another sometimes.
