Today's Real World Review will be of one of the highest capacity diaper liner on the market - Tykables Dubbler Booster . These liners claim to absorb up to 2,500 ml, and they cost quite a lot of money.
The package claims that the liners will work with most diapers, so over a week time, myself and the 2 "children" put the boosters to the test for both daytime and night time use.
* About Us *
All 3 of us are incontinent in different ways:
- I am medically incontinent and my bladders leaks & voids uncontrollably. At night I have Nocturnal Polyuria ( kidneys overproduce urine while I sleep ) .
- The "2 year old" is diaper incontinent. He has a shrunken bladder and severely atrophied bladder muscles . His bladder constantly leaks .
- The "7 year old" is 'double incontinent' and is prone to overflow and stress incontinence .
* How I Tested & The Diapers I Used *
I put the liner in the diaper as I normally would place a liner. The diapers where used as we normally would.
The diapers I tested where:
- Tykables
+ Overnight [ Night ]
+ Lil Rawrs [ Night ]
+ Little Rascals [ Day & Night ]
+ Camelot [ Day & Night ]
- Rearz
+ Inspire Plus [ Day ]
+ Lil Squirts Splash [ Night ]
+ Barnyard [ Day ]
- ABU
+ Bunny Hops ( 2 Tab ) [ Day & Night ]
+ Little Pawz [ Day & Night ]
- Bottom Half Group
+ Ultra Stretch [ Day ]
- Vector Thrust
+ Crinklz Original [ Day ]
+ BetterDry [ Day ]
* Observations *
Tykables Dubbler Boosters are very thick. Dry, they are about 3 times the thickness of our normal liners: Abena Boost. They swell up as they get wet, sometimes becoming uncomfortable against my boy parts.
As I note in the Test Results section below, these liners do not wick moisture to the diaper very well ( due to the SAP ) , hold moisture against the skin, and require diapers with very high side guards for nighttime use or when sitting down .
These liners stay put in medium diapers, and move around a lot in large diapers. I've had the booster migrate below my pee-pee many times during the daytime.
Tykables Dubbler Boosters tend to rip open when saturated. The "2 year old" had this happen twice during his morning exercises. I had it happen once .
* Test Results *
Here are the general overall results for the different diapers I tested these boosters with:
- Tykables
+ Overnight
No leaks during nighttime use
+ Lil Rawrs
No leaks during nighttime use. Ripped open during exercising ( x 1 )
+ Little Rascals
Leaked during night time use, no leaks during the daytime use
+ Camelot
No leaks during daytime or nighttime use. Ripped open during exercising ( x 1 ) and daytime use ( x1 ) .
- Rearz
+ Inspire Plus
Minor and major leaks. Mixed results
+ Lil Squirts Splash
Leaked very badly during nighttime use, the diaper itself was almost dry
+ Barnyard
Minor leaking during daytime use
- ABU
+ Bunny Hops ( 2 Tab )
Leaked very badly during nighttime use, small leaks during daytime use
+ Little Pawz
Leaked during daytime use, no leaks during nighttime use ( oddly enough )
- Bottom Half Group
+ Ultra Stretch
Leaked very badly soon after I put the "2 year old" in this diaper. Pulled the liner out and the diaper was almost completely dry
- Vector Thrust
+ Crinklz Original
No leaks during daytime use
+ BetterDry
No leaks during daytime use
* Conclusions *
Tykables Dubbler Boosters are very expensive for a diaper liner. They are thick, and swell up nicely.
I, unfortunately, can not recommend wasting money on these diaper liners for the following reasons:
1: these liners rip open easily when wet
2 they do not stay put in large diapers
3: the boosters hold moisture against the skin
4: they causes most diapers I have tested them with to leak due to poor wicking action. The liner is often times soaked, while the diaper under it is not very wet .
5: Tykables charges WAY too much
