For those who are working have you told your HR department about your issues with incontinence?

Unless you need more bathroom breaks I don't see any reason you need to share that with HR
I've never shared. Never been an issue

With the Americans With Disabilities Act in place I’m sure that you would have nothing to worry about if you informed your HR department of your situation. They would be in trouble if it got out to your fellow employees for any reason other than to accommodate your needs.

Things have changed a lot over the past 30 years. When Viagra came out in 1998, I had not had an erection in 4 years, so I asked for a prescription. My group insurance required me to get a document signed by my employer permitting the prescription because it would increase the insurance rates. That was humiliating. I only tried it twice, but because of the reactions I had both time my doctor withdrew the prescription because it indicated a strong potential for permanent blindness. "Stop it or you'll go blind!" :ROFLMAO: My employer already knew about my incontinence and diapers.

I work in a grocery store, never has really been an issue so no

NO reason to tell your employer. BUT, if you work in a small group and your a guy, people will notice you carrying your backpack to the bathroom every time. Unfortunately, many will speculate drug use before incontinence. Might be a good idea to let that small group know.

Totally agree with @Zeke here insofar as their ADA responsibilities would be. I'd only tell them, however, if you need an accommodation as a result.

Consider this.. If you don't need an accommodation and you tell them, you still risk unconscious (or conscious for that matter) discrimination. Remember, that the law may be on your side but you still have to find a lawyer willing to take your case (for a price you can afford) and prove your employer did something wrong even if they actually do discriminate against you.

I, for one, have only told one employer because I needed to be able to carry a bag into the restroom and that was forbidden by policy (security). It didn't end up being a big deal but I had to have a security guard check my bag every time before I carried it into the restroom... not exactly the attention I was seeking... I ended up wearing a very thick diaper all day and only changing at work when disaster struck.

I have been wearing diapers to work for IC reasons for at least 24 years. I have never thought it wise to tell anyone that didn’t need to know, including my employer. Don’t ask, don’t tell. Once that cat is out of the bag, you cannot put it back in.

Fortunately, my wife works with me and she changes me in my private office every day. And AWDA is important so if you need special help, be sure to talk to the HR department.

There is only one single use bathroom in the huge building I work in. I didn’t want to change my diapers within ear shot of so many people so I got an accommodation to use that single use bathroom. It’s in the nurses station so my diapers are kept in there as well. It’s worked out great.

I’ve done something similar. No way in hell I’m changing in that public restroom. My direct supervisor is aware, and the HR rep that assisted me with getting the accommodation, but that’s it.

As long as you have a restroom available with a trash can and bathroom breaks when needed why tell them. If it is interfering with your jog in any way like having to get into water over waste deep for some reason I could see telling them. But I never share my little secret until I know I trust whom I share too. Just because someone works in HR does not mean they can't be the biggest gossip also. I have seen this myself. So I would keep it myself. I do not want everyone to know and I do not want sympathy like something is wrong with me either.

Having a garbage can alone may not be enough. At one place I worked, I would not want to leave used diapers in the can knowing that it was emptied once/week.
