For those who are working have you told your HR department about your issues with incontinence?
Unless you need more bathroom breaks I don't see any reason you need to share that with HRcantwait said:For those who are working have you told your HR department about your issues with incontinence?
NO reason to tell your employer. BUT, if you work in a small group and your a guy, people will notice you carrying your backpack to the bathroom every time. Unfortunately, many will speculate drug use before incontinence. Might be a good idea to let that small group know.cantwait said:For those who are working have you told your HR department about your issues with incontinence?
Totally agree with @Zeke here insofar as their ADA responsibilities would be. I'd only tell them, however, if you need an accommodation as a result.Zeke said:With the Americans With Disabilities Act in place I’m sure that you would have nothing to worry about if you informed your HR department of your situation. They would be in trouble if it got out to your fellow employees for any reason other than to accommodate your needs.
I’ve done something similar. No way in hell I’m changing in that public restroom. My direct supervisor is aware, and the HR rep that assisted me with getting the accommodation, but that’s it.BabyHailey1977 said:There is only one single use bathroom in the huge building I work in. I didn’t want to change my diapers within ear shot of so many people so I got an accommodation to use that single use bathroom. It’s in the nurses station so my diapers are kept in there as well. It’s worked out great.
As long as you have a restroom available with a trash can and bathroom breaks when needed why tell them. If it is interfering with your jog in any way like having to get into water over waste deep for some reason I could see telling them. But I never share my little secret until I know I trust whom I share too. Just because someone works in HR does not mean they can't be the biggest gossip also. I have seen this myself. So I would keep it myself. I do not want everyone to know and I do not want sympathy like something is wrong with me either.cantwait said:For those who are working have you told your HR department about your issues with incontinence?
