In our house, if the bathroom light switch is on (beside the bathroom door), then it is understood that the bathroom is "occupied". But guests frequently don't know this so if you don't lock the door, you can be caught with your diaper showing.. Multiple choice in this poll.

I was surprised today, but thankfully it was my wife. But she did have a guest over and I forgot to lock the door. I don't want gossips knowing about my IC.

Only once when my 2 year old nephew walked in on me with my nappy down around my ankles 😧

I've been caught many times. When I was 11/12/ years old. My foster parents used to wake me up in the morning for school. (At this stage I was allowed to wear incontinence nappies to bed with a good behaviour chart) I had a habit of removing the duvet a bit and exposing my nappy peaking out my pajamas . I don't know why I did that?

Yes, but not diapers as I'm paraplegic I was using an intermittent catheter. I had transferred from my chair to toilet and finished emptying my bladder when my partners friend walked in [ being a wheelchair enabled bathroom no lock on door] Unfortunately I was at the point of carefully removing the catheter to avoid the usual flood, if not careful when she walked in. My useless legs were apart and my hand was doing other things so there I was in full view and unable to hide my embarrassment! It seemed she stopped for ages but in fact she just said sorry and hurriedly walked out. OK more of a splash and thankfully no damage done to my sensitive area. Forgot to mention our toilet faces the bathroom door!

I sadly live alone, so apart from the builder doing my disability bathroom who must hear me changing myself in my bedroom, let's face it the sound of tabs being undone and redone as he's a specialist in disability bathrooms, I'm sure he knows the telltale signs of someone that uses nappies/incontinence aids, I call them nappies, as that's what they are, adult/medical or otherwise. (Diapers for my over the pond friends)

I don't really care that much any more if people know, obviously I would alert someone that I will be in the bathroom, but as I only use it for BM's then he must be know as I've not used the loo since he's been working on my property for the last 14 days or so! Lol

You've nothing to be concerned about in my book, you're in a wheelchair (not sure how long before I am too) so she must know or have an idea you are either using diapers (waste of time, money and energy with you being in a wheelchair most of the time, imho) or have a catheter.
I used my first one in a very long time last week or so, as I had no bathroom/toilet for almost 2 days due to bathroom adjustments and I couldn't use the part-time commode that they brought for me, it was too high and unstable, so my lovely gp/nurse said that a catheter would be helpful, and it was.
I'm thinking that it was also so much easier than changing myself too that when I do end up in a chair then a catheter might not be such a bad thing, compared to the waste and energy of changing nappies/diapers as often I have to, and especially if I still love alone and have to do things by myself, at the moment.

Na, I always lock the door. There is only one time I was cought changing by a stranger. When the phizzing door in a train toilet malfunctioned. Embarrasing but survivable. Just a random, damn stranger.

Cheers

Yes the lady in question was a really close friend of my partner, and I know her well. Think this made the situation maybe not as embarrassing as it would have been had it been a stranger.
I also use Conveen Optima sheath catheters and leg bags most of the time and intermittent catheters on occasions. I wish you good luck and hope all goes OK l with your condition.

I live on my own now but for a while I was living in a room with a shared bathroom. It was possibly the worst idea I ever had as my Mum told me several times. Anyway, it seems the lock was broken or I couldn’t use it right because I got walked in on quite a few times. It was never great but I’m pretty relaxed so I just laughed it off. I’m not going to deny it was a relief to get my own place.

Not since I was a kid. I had a few people catch me in a diaper at like 7 and 10 and also had a babysitter find out because I just had a pair out when I was 10 but as an adult, I live alone and I do not think I have ever been caught.

At a friends house there are no locks on doors anywhere.

I was doing selfcath, additional Pull-Up down my legs, when their daughter (13) came in.

She looked, said sorry, and walked away. No questions afterwards, the parents know i have to do selfcath, but i tell nobody i have to wear diapers as well, some may guess so i think, but no one ever asked.

Not a nappy but previous rental I was on the loo, using my phone, my house mate opened the door as the lock was broken.
I had my hand on my member to stop him popping up. I was too slow to react to the sound of the door. He must have seen and thought I was doing something else.

The first time I had traveled after my incontinence started it was to my girlfriend's friend's house out of town and we were there for five nights the third night my girlfriend's friend had a dinner party inviting a few of our other friends that we hadn't seen in a while. Everyone staying overnight. One of them had her young 5yr old son with her.
Late in the evening I was in the bathroom Idhad already started peeing before use the hand bottle urinal for the 3rd time I needed to "go " HOWEVER the adult BRIEFS/diape I wear kept my pants dry but I had to put on a fresh one. In my wheelchair my pants were down around my ankles. I just finished taping the fresh brief aka diaper up properly when suddenly The young boy had opened the door and both of us were startled looking at each of. We just looked at each other when I grabbed my pants and I started pulling them up over my knees. Lifted my butt awkwardly pulled them all the way on the boy still looking at me. In the way only a young boy can innocently asks why I have a diaper on. Before I could say anything he says sorry and closed the door I was getting my pants and shirt situated when I heard the boy loudly say uncle j..... wears diapers
All my friends know that I have incontinence and nightly bedwetting and wearing BRIEFS/diaper but it was still totally embarrassing

One of the many times I visited Disneyland I was using a “family bathroom”. As I was pulling my pants up after changing my diaper the door opens. Apparently I had forgot to lock the door and the man at the door looks at me and instead of a brief apology he says to me “make sure you lock the door next time” in an angry voice. I guess him seeing a glimpse of my diaper set him off. When I was done and leaving the restroom he was nowhere to be seen.

Yes. We had friends for dinner and mid way through the evening I had to change. I was changing out of a wet nappy when one of our guests opened the door as I had forgotten to lock it and saw me changing into a dry nappy with the wet one still on the floor. It was very embarrassing. She gave me a big hug and said sorry. Thank goodness it was a female friend. Whenever my wife and I stayed at our friend’s house she always made sure there was a waterproof mattress cover on the bed and would occasionally ask if I needed the bathroom. Otherwise it was never mentioned.
