Great Vacation

DC trip was absolutely amazing. The sites, the museums, and even the weather was amazing. Except for one day, which we ended up staying in the hotel room. I left Ohio to escape the cold not be a part of it. We got to watch the daughter perform at the WWII Memorial and again at the Marine Corps Museum. My incontinence was not an issue as I always had a place to change If needed and none of the places we went into even checked our bags more than briefly opening them up.

The only issue I ran into was I forgot a bag of diapers and ended up driving to Baltimore to pick up an emergency pack of PeakABUs. Their store front at the warehouse was kinda nice. Lots of different items some of which I would use, like the onesies or diaper covers. I was also able to snag me in a couple of Little Kings samples as well. Not a bad diaper, but I am not a fan of the cloth backed type of diaper. I don't care what anyone says the quality of an AB diaper is so much better than some medical diapers. Especially over the counter brands at local retail locations. I can see how attractive and easy one could fall for that lifestyle with all the nice options on the market.

Oh and I learned to make sure to watch what I wear especially while wearing an AB diaper with all the pretty print. I was wearing some sweat pants which wasn't a big deal but the white teeshirt I was wearing was. You could see all the pretty designs through the shirt and I didn't realize how visible they were until after returning from my dinner night at The Melting Pot with my wife. She told me that would have explained some of the snickers she was hearing. I was completely oblivious.

The only other downside was the people. Most people in the Northern VA area I talked to or attempted to talk to weren't very nice. They seemed too stuck up or conceited to even acknowledge me. I guess they aren't used to random people saying hello or making small talk. Traffic sucked and everyone thinks the speed limit of 55 means "Mach Jesus." Ended up making it home safe with an empty EZ Pass and only one traffic cam speeding ticket from Maryland. 96 in a 55 netted me a lovely 40 civil penalty which I gladly paid as to not take an actual moving violation. All in all it was a great experience but would not plan to visit again in the near future.

After seeing this online photo I became even more aware of the situation you recently found yourself in.

It sounds like you had a good trip, for the most part.

Thanks for sharing.

I have been to DC once, in high school. My son it about the same age now, as I was when I went to DC. I have thought about taking a family trip to visit the sites and museums.

An association that my dad’s company belonged to had a convention in Washington D.C. when I was somewhere around a freshman in high school. He took mom and me along on the flight out there and while he was busy at the convention mom was dragging me to everything from Mount Vernon to the Smithsonian to the White House to Congress to the Jefferson Memorial to Lincoln’s Memorial and so on. I probably would’ve learned more, enjoyed it more, and complained far less if I hadn’t been wearing a brand new pair of boots that were destroying my feet as we walked what seemed like endlessly through all these sites and attractions. So I been scared and will forever associate D.C. with sore feet.

Oh my dumbass under estimated how bad parking was and ended up parking about 2.5 miles from where my daughter was performing. Ok no worries I need the exercise. Bad part? I was wearing Hey Dudes. Not great footwear for walking close to 10 miles that day. By early evening I was done and limping back toward the parking garage.
