Oh my God that's horrible! How could they treat you like that. I sometimes have outburts like that because I just.. I can't deal with the rudeness. I twice recently had an issue with a Psychiatry department receptionist. First time I was telling them I was severely depressed and they just hung up on me. Second time, week later, I was asking for their manager because it was days past a manager being expected to reach out to me and they never did. They were very rude, I asked for the manager, they hung up on me, once again.

I'm so sick and tired of fake rude horrible healthcare providers. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt but I just can't take it.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I echo your sentiments about healthcare providers!

It wasn't just my autism and ADHD. I'd been battling with them to get proper referrals for Long Covid treatment for over a year at that point (one GP screwed up a referral and by the time they rectified it the specialist centre had stopped taking people) and my condition worsened whilst I was left to fester. Indeed, I ended up in A&E when I went into uni one day because of how bad things had gotten and was super done in and spasmodic. I also asked for home visits because there's no way of me getting to the surgery because the way the pavements are make it physically impossible and there are no wheelchair accessible taxis in the area. They declined. Then I had this GP who obviously didn't believe my issues were severe and I was trying it on.

I made numerous complaints because of all the above and unsurprisingly as GPs in the UK mark their own homework as it were when it comes to complaints, none were upheld. I guess they saw me as a 'problem patient' because of the complaints. Other people with chronic conditions have been removed and I've come across other long haulers who were just removed and hadn't complained before or anything!

The same shit happens here in the US.
The system is rife with doctors who dismiss patients with chronic health issues because they do not want to take the time to help.

The reality of the situation really infuriates me. Whoops - noticed an error in my above post - I obviously meant the GP thought I was trying it on re getting a sick note. I feel that chronic fatigue should be called permadeath as that may stop people thinking it’s just being a bit tired. The mad thing is I had tons of evidence as well.

He was obviously just bigoted and ignorant and refused to believe any evidence. I did find it staggering that he was allowed to be a GP though!

I'm sorry you went through all that. You deserve better care like how I just the other day dropped my own primary care doctor for ignoring my needs and issues. I got a new one but won't see them for over 2 weeks. I just gotta make due until then, there's nothing sooner. And I still don't know if this new one will work but I'm gonna make sure I am open and clear about what I need help with.

I truly feel for you. I paid a decent amount of money for my assessment. Some people are able to find it for like $200 or less. Or even an actual medical referral. My provider doesn't believe in Adult Autism diagnoses at least in terms of referring for it, so I paid out of pocket to an organization to do it. It wasn't exactly cheap but it did give closure and now I'm trying to get my healthcare provider to add the diagnoses to my medical record officially, which they should since it is from a licensed psychologist in my state.
Thank you for replying. The red tape we have to cut through is astounding. I’m not giving up and will find answers while trying not to overthink it. There’s a podcast I follow which has been helpful in general but also professionally. It’s called Autism From The Inside. There’s a facebook group linked to it as well. All private.

That's great. I hope you can find the closure you want and need as well. Big hugs to everyone, autistic or not. I'm not honestly great with IRL physical touch like hugs but virtually I'm sending all the hugsss.
