First time to Doctor - what to expact

I just went to the doctor today for a checkup and incontinence was mentioned towards the end. They just asked if it was bladder/bowel/or both and how long it's been going on for and I just said long term (due to Autism). The doctor accidentally called them adult pampers and it made me laugh a little bit inside. 🤣. Glad I don't have to go through any testing or additional referrals and they immediately suggested helping me get what I need.

I went to Aeroflow Urology's website and filled out my insurance and doctor's info and immediately got a suggestion for Prevail Underwear in Small and got some free wipes included. Seeing the total at checkout of 0.00 was surprising, but I'm glad I took the chance and I'm getting what I need.

Went to specialist based on internal medicine recommendation. Told my story of what I was experiencing and wore “protection for incidents where I couldn’t get to bathroom fast enough like a work in conference meeting, confirmed I have OAB, asked if I was comfortable with how I was dealing with it (diapers/ pull ups), indicated I was, doing kegel exercises and other things to help. He indicated if it impacts my life too much we would discuss alternative treatment plans but did not want to go down that road yet….

Whether this was a good outcome or not could be debated, I do plan on going back to understand in greater depth options and side effects. I’ve already done a tone of research and know the answers nonetheless I’m not a dr.

I managed my incontinence very well and accepted that I have to wear diapers, this works good for me.

However I think to go to talk with a doctor in the upcoming days.

What to expect if i tell him the first time about IC?
Dr.s don’t care at all. I’ve discussed with many over the years and they’re all just into trying to find solutions.
