I was running to the bus stop to try and catch it and as I was running I tripped and fell hurting my hand- knee- and elbow.
I scraped my kee and elbow but half of my fingernail on my left hand is missing.

I was wonder if there's a way to regrow the fingernail faster than waiting for it to grow on its own if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for replying. I can't wait til my finger heals because I'm constantly worried about it if it will ever heal and how bumping my hand when I'm at work hurts 2 much. How long did it take to heal?

I lost two fingernails in my lifetime, one to a closing door, another one to a branch falling on it, and today nobody could tell two of my nails have regrown from scratch. I can't remember having consulted a doctor about it, my body knew how to deal with it on its own.

It will regrow the speed as as your fingernails usually grow. Pregnancy hormones stimulate nail growth, but I guess getting pregnant is not an option. On the other hand, don't breastfeed, as that tends to slow nail growth down. Apart from that you can only try to get healthy nutrition in order to provide your nails with everything they need from the inside and let them do the rest.

You can live months with a missing nail. Finally it will heal. Just be patient - and of course very careful with the naked nailbed.

Some how I do not believe that the OP is likely to be or become pregnant. But, truly great advice!!

Personally, I would be more concern regarding the amount and depth of skin loss over your knuckle! That skin regrowth will likely be very slow and specific coverage to protect and promote the growth of that area is needed. A skin graft maybe needed!

The nail appears to have retained its root, which is the foundation of whether regrowth is even possible. As stated by another, nail growth rate will be consistent with your normal growth rate. That rate can be increased in some people by increasing the amount of whole milk as its high load of natural calcium support nail growth. But, the reality is that nail regrowth is even slower than watching grass grow.

Strongly recommend that you see an hand medical specialist as you have loss a large bit of skin!!

Honestly my hand is mostly ok I'm more worried about my fingernail growth. I think it is a good idea to search for faster ways to regrow finger nails

It takes time. I crushed my big toe back in March and the nail just fell off today pushed off by the start of a new one. From past experience it will be March again before it looks sorta normal. I cut the tip of my thumb off diagonally through the nail with a hatchet fifteen years back and the doctor sewed it back on but though it looks better each year it still ain't right. (Beware your first pair of progressive bifocals!)
Best of luck with a speedy recovery Rift!

Researching is always a good idea, but in this case I don't think you will get the desired results. There are some tips like certain foods (to provide nutrients), massages (to enhance blood circulation), lotions (to keep the fingers hydrated), but they essentially boil down to overall health. You should generally eat veggies, legumes and fibre, some sport will circulate your blood into your fingertips even without a targeted massage and I suppose you don't want dry and cracked skin anyway - I guess you can get some skin care onto your fingers during your ABDL routine.

Even with all possible support, your nail will not grow more than 1,5 mm per week (and that would be a unsubstantiatedly high upper estimate since I can not retrieve an actual record rate). I think that is actually a good thing, as your germinal matrix with its blood vessel and its quality control is designed for exactly that speed. Higher growth would need thicker blood vessels in your nail base and higher risk of any cell division going wrong - growing in undesired directions, failure of building an adequate nail, mutation into tumor cells...

You are an engineer, so let me put it this way: Good nail construction takes its time. A solidly crafted nail is preferable to a botched one.

They grow out it's not a perminate loss. Its like cutting your hair it keeps growing back I get ingrown toenails. Those nails haft to be either totally removed or partially removed. The more often I had it done the easier it became. Now I remove the nails myself. I know omg that must hurt. They used to but not anymore. Anyway long story short i keep pulling the nails off and the nails keep growing back.

Not to raise a thread from the dead but, my toe had nearly got to normal then the brother of the guy who dropped the wrapping machine on it dropped a cart in it today and it is all purple again. UGH!!!
I hope Rift is all healed up.

Nam, this family seems out to get you. :sneaky:
