There's a window of opportunity for parents. If you have a reasonably normal responsible kid, you can leave them alone for half a day or so from around 9-13. Then when the hormones kick in, you can't can't leave them home unsupervised again until maybe.... 30.

Mrs. Maxx complains that I don't. What she doesn't realize is that I would if given a chance. She's so twitchy that she runs around trying to wash everything immediately. Problem is, she does everything 'real quick' (her phrase "I'm just going to do ______ real quick"), so there's always gunk on the plates, and often as not I'll get a shower taking a cup out of the cabinet. I rewash everything when she's not looking, and keep a few clean coffee cups and pint glasses stashed in the man cave so I know I'll always have one when I need it.
She's like that with everything. In fall, she runs around trying to catch the leaves before they hit the ground as if she's afraid someone is going to steal them, then complains I never do the raking.
