Abdl Pull Ups

I would take anything that doesn’t resemble a medical pull up and has some kind of designs on it for the abdl community.

I would personally want the design to be similar to pull ups, with a simple character on the front/back, or just simple designs that fade when wet.

For capacity, I would want something that can home 2 or 3 wettings but not super thick with padding. With ABDL Pull-ups, those would be the ones I would use more for when going outside compared to ABDL Diapers which I mostly stick to Home.

As more of a middle I like the idea of pull-ups, I wish I would fit into goodnites, but I do find the Depend Real Fit underwater works well and don't have the granny panties type sides, I just wish they came in some more juvenile designs or that an ABDL company created somthing similar. But I guess the best solution would be for Goodnights to make adult sizes :)

ABU a while back said recently no one really could do an abdl pull-up. They would have their own machine to make it because they could adapt a current one to do a print adult baby-style pull-up. The cost would be too much to even think about doing one.

We can only dream of a day where ABDL Pull-ups will be made

What I would like to see in an adult pull-on diaper (PullUp) is simple. Padding that goes as high as a regular diaper (one only has to look at GoodNites for an example), a cute but mature design (again look at L and XL GoodNites), tall leak guards, a size that fits more than twinks, and quick absorption. It does not need to hold a gallon because neither do kids pull-on diapers. For the AB crowd (which I do count myself as part of) a few designs that look younger and still does the above.

Big Diaper Friday: Pull Ups? Can We Talk About Maybe Perhaps Having PULL UPS?!?!?!

Pull Ups? Will We Ever Get PULL-UPS?!?!

Hello and welcome to another Big Diaper Friday with ABU! Krib here again, this week working with Eolis to give you a comprehensive look into the ins-and-outs of adult Pull-Up development. Krib is the Customer Service Lead here at ABUniverse, fielding your requests for Pull-Ups on an almost daily basis. Eolis, ABU’s Art & Design Lead, has been looking into the feasibility of developing Pull-Ups for many years; and has pushed ABU towards achieving some of the key pieces needed to make them. Without further ado, lets dive in to the nitty gritty details of Pull-Ups!

We have heard this question across many platforms in many…many…MANY different ways.

  • “Have you guys considered making ABDL Pull-Ups?”
  • “Why don’t you just make scaled up Pull-Ups?”
  • “These companies would make some big bucks if they made ABDL Pull-Ups!”
  • “PULL-UPS WHEN? ಥ_ಥ”

The TL;DR Is: If We Could, We Would!

Like, we really REAAAALLY would. We have looked into it for many years. It is known by every ABDL company, large and small, that whoever makes the first adult sized Pull-Ups, in the style the community wants, are going to make millions. The desire and research into this has no doubt been going through the minds of every ABDL diaper producer for years. In fact Positional Printing was not just ABU’s step to revolutionize the world of adult diapers, opening up the potential of beautiful placed art layouts on diapers (check out our in depth article on that Here!). It was an essential step to creating a Pull-Up that actually looked like a Pull-Up. Placed fake underwear lines, specifically located wetness indicators for boys and girls, no upside-down repeating prints or elements. The things you expect from a Pull-Up design required this tech to be in hand, and now we have it. But this was only a piece of the puzzle. So let’s get into the other pieces that stand in our way.

First things first, a lot of the technology currently available to manufacture adult Pull-Ups is tried and tested. Many major medical brands already manufacture adult Pull-Up products and you’ll notice that, across all brands, adult Pull-Ups tend to look quite different from the classic Pull-Up style we see for kids. They have a single pad core with lots of ruffled plastic and elastic. Why is that?

There are many reasons, but one is the simple fact that a Pull-Up scaled up for an adult weighs more when wet than a child’s Pull-Up; adults expel more. This weight increase led companies producing adult Pull-Ups to come up with a creative solution to the elastic sides that could support more weight and remain comfortable. These companies didn’t have ABDL aesthetics in mind; they had the comfort of adults who suffer mild incontinence in mind. It’s function over looks.

You might notice we say “Pull-Up” capitalized as a name, and not a description of a product like diapers. This is because Pull-Ups are a proprietary development by “Pull-Ups”. It’s kinda like how everyone says Kleenex, you know it’s a brand name but thats also what they’re called. No one is saying “Hey, can you pass me a Kleenex brand facial tissue?”, In the same way, Pull-Ups are just Pull-Ups. They are a company that built the factories that create the nostalgic style of Pull-Up you see, and they did not produce a factory to make them in adult sizes; that is not their focus. This points out a very large roadblock that we run into when wanting to make Pull-Ups. The factory to create the style desired, and the proprietary materials, such as Pull-Ups specific elastic siding, do not exist. If we want them we would have to build a factory to produce them; and we would need a materials engineer to develop our own, functional and new, elastic siding that could support Pull-Ups on an adult. It is not an insurmountable obstacle, but there is a reason no ABDL company owns their own factory and produce in existing ones. A factory is catastrophically expensive.

Why Can't You Just...Make Them, But Bigger?

Pull-Ups Don’t really “Scale Up” in a linear way. It is a balancing act of design to make them functionally absorbent, while also not being too heavy for the elastic siding when wet. How to make them adjustable in size for adults; children’s hip measurements vary less than adults, also we do not have the convenience of tapes to make a perfect fit like a diaper. Dilemma after dilemma compiles until we have a long list of problems to solve if we want to achieve a perfect product for the community, that touches on the nostalgic notes of classic Pull-Ups.

Lets Talk Aesthetics & Useability

We know that some of you kiddos love the idea of leaking in a droopy printed Pull-Up while adamantly defending your recent potty training achievements, (we agree, it would be PRECIOUS.) but we certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable releasing a fantastically designed printed adult baby Pull-Up that doesn’t perform to a higher standard than the range of adult Pull-Ups currently available. Leaks are bad news when you’re in the business of preventing puddles.

So there we have it! We talk about Pull-Ups quite a lot here at ABU. I promise that there isn’t a giant stash of printed adult baby Pull-Ups locked up deep in our vaults that we’re hiding from you all. The truth is that we want to make a great ABDL style Pull-Up because it is single handedly one of the most requested products we get asked about on a regular basis. As a team of ABDL’s and agerplayers, our team wants what you want!

We continue to keep our fingers, paws and hooves on the pulse of things we can achieve and strive to put out some of the most exciting and innovative products on the market. (Just take a look at positional printing!) You can rest assured that once we find a way to create an amazing looking Pull-Up catered toward ABDL’s we’ll be shouting about it from the hilltops.

That’s it for this week, Thank you so much for taking the time to read over our thoughts and insights into the world of ABDL Pull-Ups; a world that does not yet exist; but we’re always trying to get there.

Much love from:

-If you could get licensed characters. Just saying we would absolutely go nuts for Pooh bear, or Elmo prints in adult sizes.
-Snug sides- no granny panty style sides
-Some kind of fade when wet design, possible revealing some positive messages like " way to go kiddo" or something along those lines.
-Advertise them as a way to get ready to go back to diapers. something to the opposite effect of training paints, your not training to get into paints your training to get into diapers. Your not trying to stay dry, your trying to get used to wetting/using.

I want something like Goodnites but with more room in the front (I am unfortunately not flat in front) and significantly higher capacity.

Padding that fully rises in front and back
That would be my #1 ask also, and I'm sure it's easier said than done. It seems like most/all adult pull-ups are just a one-size pad glued into multiple sizes of underwear. The bigger the size, the lower the padding in front and back. Lame. I want something that's more like a proper diaper, but pulls on.

I think that the boys version should use the same exact shade of blue as Huggies Pull-Ups for Boys, while the girls version can be either light purple or pink. The third version should be plain white for those that don't like the prints or colors.

Engineering wise:

I think with absorbency I get and agree with the comments saying they don't need to be as absorbent as the crazy tape up diapers now available, but a good capacity is still needed, if you are aiming at the ABDL market rather than IC users then higher capacity than what is currently available in medical brand pull ups definitely. No matter how much an ABDL person might understand that pull ups are meant for smaller amounts they are still likely to end up flooding them.

I think high standing Leak guards on the sides would be important for this as pull ups do tend to sag more because of the elastics and that should help contain things. I also think cloth backed is much more appropriate than plastic backed, pull ups are meant to feel/seem more like big kid pants so smooth plastic outer should not be used. However something that will still crinkle and rustle a bit would be good.

Potentially slightly thicker sides and although I imagine it is patented, hook and loop easy open sides something similar to these.

Pull-Ups First Flush Ambassador Check-In – Frugal Novice

If done right this could actually really help with adult pull ups much more than children's because it means that when they are a bit wet and getting heavier, if they start to sag you could potentially tighten up the sides by reconnecting it further back.

Some brands of children's pull up have a little tape on the back that you can use to secure a wet rolled up one when disposing, this would be nice to see.

Potentially male and female variations with more of the absorbent materials in the right areas for either gender, might help them work a bit better but the print designs would have to be available in both to not upset people so that could be a pain.

Wetness indication, anyway would be fine but a fading print is best as it makes you want to change to get the picture back.

Aesthetic wise:

A range of prints suitable for any "age", but keep it simple, too many companies go over the top trying to fill the outer with all sorts. Though one important design feature I feel has to be the work "back" on the back side, most children's pull ups I see have this to help them getting used to dressing themselves.

The problem with these pull-ups is that they still have a small padding and lots of wasted space that most adult pull-ups tends to have. What I want is something that's similar to Huggies Pull-Ups, but for adults.

There are two ways to approach this:

Realistically, something with a daytime absorbency would be great. On-par with Abena’s or Northshore’s best pull ups would be a good starting point, but a little extra absorbency wouldn’t hurt. Design-wise, you could do something reminiscent of what Pampers are doing with the Easy Ups as of late, but incorporating a wetness indicator would add an extra level of authenticity a lot of folks are looking for.

For the extra mile, everyone wants a scaled-up Huggies Pull Ups. If you could find a way to skirt the patents around them and make stretchy colored Velcro sides, that would be huge. As would the gender specific designs (printed fly for boys, lace trim for girls etc), more realistic designs (Pooh and Mickey Mouse are in public domain but might not be the right direction) like sports, superheroes and cars for boys and princesses, unicorns and dolls for girls would be great to see.

I’ll be interested to see where this goes…
