I think this is a good question for everyone, as long as it hasn't been done before...
How many people do you think are TBDL? Im gonna guess 1/300... Also, if you know anyone who is, maybe share a story if you want. My ex-best friend from grade 2 was DEFINITELY into it, possibly more than me. He was obsessed with trying to make his little sister look like she peed her pants, he would spray her with a water hose then try to go tell on her. Sometimes the mom even believed him. Also he used to tell me about how "his brother did that to him, and he had to wear pull-ups for weeks at a time", yeah, he was a compulsive liar... We didn't end up staying friends, almost every word he spoke was a lie. |

'm no mathmatician but I bet that if an expert were able/willing to look at data from several diaper websites they could make a pretty accurate guess. They'd need to make an estimate of the percentage of ab/dls for a given area who have access to internet then they'd need to make another estimate of the percentage of those who go to the particular diaper site where the data is gathered. Those percentage estimates and the actual hard data can be divided by the total population of a given area to make an estimate of how common ab/dlism really is.
For example: I would guess that 75% of AB/DLs in my state have access to the internet and/or activly participate in diapers sites. I would further guess that 1% of those AB/DLs are members of ADISC with a location in their profile. I'll make another guess, since I'm too lazy to look it up, as to the number of ADISCers in my state: 12. And google tells me that MA has a population of 6.5 million people. Now to do the math (though I'm pretty sure I'll mess up on this part) 12x100 (to compensate for the other 99%) = 1200. 1200x1.25 (to compensate for those that don't use community sites) = 1500 If I assume that there are 1500 DLs in the state of MA I can divide 6.5 million by this to get 4333. Meaning that one in every 4333 citizens of MA are AB/DLs. Of course different estimates give different numbers. If ADISC caters to 1/2% of the AB/DL population instead of 1% then I get 1/2166 people is AB/DL. Anyway I think it would be really interesting if a mathmatician was able to look at the raw data for multiple diaper sites to try and make an educated guess. |

72% Of statistics are made up on the spot.
We'll never know, no point even guessing. You could ask one hundred thousand people, even then, you would not even have a brief idea, all you'd know is how many of that one hundred thousand actually are, not including those who lied or those who have still not discovered such. That's not even counting the other few billion people you didn't ask. |

Okay, according to Alexa.com 0.00029% people on the internet come to this site. Now, of course not everyone into diapers is going to be coming to this site, So take these results with a grain of salt and try to not get to discouraged. 1 in 344827 people that use the internet use it to come to this site.

I think one would have to do a Gallup pole type survey, with perhaps unsigned mail in order to get people to respond and be honest. The Kinsey reports of the 50s were considered to be very inaccurate, so a large scale survey of the general population would have to be done in order to have relative accuracy.

I dont really think it is all that realistic to perform a statistical analysis on this subject... really when we look at it there is a huge potential for flaws. If we are trying to find the people that have genuine interest we will inevitably run into the problem of people hiding the fact that they really do have an interest in this subject. On the flipside I am sure that you would run into the problem of people admitted they have an interest in this subject where they really dont. We all know the problem with fakers, liers, and desperate sex hungry weirdos.
Like any statistical analysis there is margin for error... but I think the margin for error on this subject would be to great to acheive any concrete evidence. |
