I find the huge lack of Pacifier topics here rather... well, not good at all! Which is why I plan to rectify this situation, and get a discussion going!
So, how many people here use Pacifiers? Do you sleep with one? Can you keep it in overnight? Is it Round or Orthodontic? What colour is it? Come on, let's kick up a discussion! As for me, well, I use one most nights. some nights I can't be bothered, but since night time is the only real time I do baby stuff, most night's I'll usually be using one. It took me a while when I first started using one, but I'm well and able to keep one in all throught the night, and I've gotta say, it's a really nice feeling to wake up and realise you've still got a paci in your mouth. ![]() And yeah, I'm not a real fan of flat, orthodontic ones, so I use the round variety, since they're bigger and are easier to sleep with. and like all real men, I stay the hell away from pink, and always get blue ones. Blue is for boys!! Humphrey Sez: I has secret informations! Big bro has a system too! He has one paci for nighttime snuggles, another one for when he sleeps which glows in the dark, and another one for when he wakes up in the morning for snooze-hugs!! !! Dude, too much information! |

Well I tried using a paci. I just don't like the feeling in my mouth, although I've found it easier to use one since I stopped smoking, since I find the sucking motion soothing, it's odd.
But I have a pink/yellow one, pink/purple, powder blue/teal, and a green/blue one. Okay, well 2 of those I stole from my sisters room 'cause she didn't use them (Don't worry, she didn't like, put her mouth on it, or anything). They are Nuk 1, Nuk 2, Nuk 3, and a Gerber one. I like the Nuk 3 best, and my mom told me I liked the Nuks when I was little, my sister likes the round gerber ones, and so did my brother. (But, she doesn't know I like them now... just to be clear) I can't sleep with it. It bothers me so i end up spitting it out before I even fall asleep, heh. |

Well I recently bought 2 and so far they're absolutely great.
When I bought them I didn't really look at the color more at which one looked biggest and not to stay there looking too long. So I ended up with an orange one and a purple one. They're orthodontic and still not big enough. Once I can get stuff over the mail I'll have to get a NUK. I sleep with them only I fail to keep them in my mouth but I've only had them for 10 days so I expect that I'll get there once. |

I've got 2 Nuk 3's, I got them at a Sweetbay (grosery) in a 2 pack for $4. One has a orange sheld and a green ring and I have posted a pic of me with it in the gallery. The other one has a pink sheld and a blue ring but I haven't used that yet.
I don't use them that offten but it is nice to have one in every now and then. I don't really like these to much because they are the flat kind and are hard to keep in. |

I have pacis...including the much coveted NUK MedicPro! I don't really use them, although it has been suggested that I put something in my mouth to keep my teeth from grinding at night...who knows?
Anyway...the idea of keeping a pacifier in your mouth all night is rather...well...adult. Babies seldom keep pacis in their mouths longer than an hour or so after sleep...once they're well and truly asleep their little jaws slacken and the paci falls out (this is when some babies wake up screaming for their paci, but most just carry on sleeping). My children, would often spit out the paci in the night and then end up sleeping on top of it...leaving paci imprints on backs/tummies/ even the side of their faces (I'm sure that can't have been comfortable!). |

I agree, the lack of pacifier topics is disappointing! Especially since pacis are my favorite TB item...
I currently have 4 nuk 3's. Two whites, a red, and a blue (the handles are all white). I would like to try sleeping with one but don't think it's a good idea because it's not uncommon for my parents or brothers to come in and wake me up, borrow something, etc. Even though it's probably not going to happen, I enjoy it less if I'm constantly worrying if someone will walk in on me. Therefore, I only use my paci when I'm home alone. -M |
