Default Getting my first diapers, plastic pants and pacifier on monday!

On thursday I ordered 8 diapers, white plastic pants and a NUK 5 pacifier from cuddlz.com ready for when I get back to my flat on monday. These are my first *B items ever and I am so excited! I am unsure how to stop leakage with the pants though, is there a special way? Also the sizes on the website seem strange as I need large pants but medium sized diapers. Do you think it will be OK?

Congratulations on your purchase and its imminent arrival

There's really no special trick with plastic pants other than to wear them and make sure that all your diaper is tucked inside, since anything that breaks the seal will cause moisture to flow through. If you really flood, you either better have thick diapers or you may need to shift around to speed absorption, lest it just collect where gravity sends it and it may be too much to absorb in just that local area. In that situation, your greatest risk of leaks is right after a heavy burst, and better after the wetness distributes. It's a different feeling from a disposable.

Sizing does require a bit of experience for the best effect, though. It varies depending on the company, what size you are, and how thick you like your diapers. If you wind up liking cloth, you'll probably end up wanting more than one pair of plastic pants, so you'll get time to try out alternatives in size and style.

I don't really see the attraction of cloth...

how do u all actually wash them? Just dumping them into your washing machines? I shudder when i think whats happening to the other clothes.....
Even washing diapers and clothes in seperate loads don't appeal to me too...

Hi everyone. It all came! It is all of very high quality but as I am a newbie I cannot seem to do the diaper up properly as it is still quite open when I tape it up at the top, is there something I can do?

Most people will rinse it out in the sink first and wash diapers and cloths in separate loads. The rinse gets out the gritty stuff and the laundry soap gets rid of germs and whatnot.

I'm sorry, but I can't help you with the proper fastening of a cloth diaper. I've never even seen one, so I can't even imagine how you'd go about fastening one.

It is not a cloth diaper, it is a disposable. I am sorry, I should have specified.

well in answer to the washing statement Clothies are far cheaper in the long run, and many people think they are more comfie. Personaly I like to know I am not contributing to landfills as much.
THough the washing is done in many ways. We always keep seperate basket for them, and wash them with our towels. This will keep them away from other cloths, but this allows you to wash in hot water, and with a color safe bleach. Though this may not remove the smell. THe trick is to always add a cap full of Vinigar to the wash, You can also add a teaspoon of bakeingsoda to kill any additional acidity. In the end these will be far cleaner then your jeans and shirts if you use the Vinigar and the Bleach.
If you have any other questions about care I can always send thee care sheet that I send with every diaper I make so you know what to expect.

And most of all:
Congrats Iskuri Disposable or clothie dose not matter as much as that you have them. Though if you deside to try Clothies let me know, I will hook you up.

Hmm I definitely want to try clothies. I bought 8 disposables and I am already half way through the pack! One other question. Does anyone know of an AB/DL nursery near Birmingham or of any people seeking playmates in Birmingham as I would love to socialize with like-minded people.
