Ok, if this one doesn't work, then I don't know what will.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1: the Spirit Master --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For a month now, Kurio Arubarra had traveled through many towns, searching for a ruthless demon who's reign of terror had killed countless people over the last few months, and is probably responsible for the disappearances of many others. He had been eavesdropping on conversations and rumors of townfolks, and had finally located the wherebouts of the ruthless demon he had been hunting down all across the state. The demon was currently in Death Valley, California, a formidable place during any time of the year, but at these particularly troubled times, even more dangerous than ever. After weeks of tracking, he had reached the chasm where the demon was rumored to live. Motionlessly, he stood on a ledge over looking the chasm known as the Valley of Bones. Squinting, he peered through the darkness, trying to see any sign that the demon was nearby. He leapt down to the chasm floor, landing silently amongst rocks and cacti. He knew the demon has down here somewhere, and he woudn't quit until he had slayed him. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, pools of dried blood and piles of bones began to appear, and a cold shiver ran down his spine at the sight. He was definently close now, and as he hugged the rocky chasm wall, he kept his senses alert, for sign of any movement. He suddenly heard a sharp sound, and stopped dead in his tracks. He kneeled down, hiding behind a stout rock, and turned his head in all directions, looking for the source of the noise. SNAP! He heard it again, and this time he knew which direction it was coming from. A bloodcurling scream suddenly filled his ears, and he knew that somewhere in this chasm, a female's life was in mortal peril. He jumped to his feet, and ran towards the scream he had heard. The girl must he saved before it is to late. He lost his direction momentarily in the shadows of the canyon, but a steady, desperate sobbing led him between two large objects he assumed were rocks, and down a dark, worn pathway. He passed under a rock protruding from the earth above, and saw that he was standing in the entrance of a cave. He carefully crept down the dark passageway, towards the flickering of fire on the wall ahead, and the steady pleading of the girl. As he neared a section of the wall, jutting out farther than the rest, he scampered behind it, and hid from view. Being careful not to make noise or be seen, he stuck his head around the corner, to see where the girl was, and what her condition was. He could barely make out her form in the darkness, but it was obvious she was tied to something. Squinting through the dark cave, he saw that the girl was bound by thick black ropes, on a vertical rack made from the bones of the demon's victims. He still did not see the demon, and wasn't sure where he was, but he kept a his senses alert, as he leaned out a bit farther, making sure he remained in the shadows. "Please...please...just let me go..." he heard the girl plead through heavy sobs, as the shadow of the demon approached her from the closest wall. "Silence, stupid girl!" the demon's deep, sinister voice bellowed, shaking the cave. "So which of your broken limbs should I devour first?" The demon now emerged in front of the girl, and he could now clearly see him. It had black beetle-like skin, that shined in the light of the fire burning on the ground. He saw horns all over it's back, and a row running down both of it's skeletal arms. Two large horns stuck dangerously from it's triangular head, and they looked like they were perfect for impaling their prey. The demon motioned towards one of the girls' legs. "How about this one?" he growled in that same sinister tone. "Looks just as tasty as the rest to me." "No please! Please! Spare me!" the girl pleaded through heavy sobs, but the demon just laughed in amusement. He saw it's long, pointy fingered hand grab her leg, and started to bend it forward. Her leg bowed forward, and it looked extremely painful. SNAP! the bone shattered, and her leg was now folded over onto it's self, bleeding from several points on her leg were the bone had pierced through the skin. "AHHHHH!!" the girl cried in intense pain. He now knew what the snapping noise he had heard earlier was. The sound of the demon breaking her limbs, one by one. He had to act now. From a pouch on his belt, he removed two green balls with a thin string hanging out of the top. He threw himself around the corner, pulled the strings on both balls, and threw them at the demons clawed feet. POOF! Green smoke filled the air, but since he was used to it, it didn't bother him one bit. While the demon was busy trying to figure out what was going on, he snuck around him, towards where the girl should be. He found her after reaching out blindly for a few seconds. His fingers closed around the ropes binding her arms to the bone rack, and he quickly removed a wood handeled knife from it's sheath on his belt, and began to cut her free. He quickly cut throughthe ropes, releasing one arm, and watched that arm slunk down, and wobble like it didn't have any structure, and he knew that her arm must be broken. He heard a thud, and turned around. The smoke was clearing, but the demon had slunk down against the far wall, unable to move due to the poison. Wasting no time, he cut through the remaining rope binding her other arm. Her pulled her off of the bone rack, swung her over his shoulder, and ran past the floor-bound demon, who was now starting to stir. He rushed around the corner, down the dark passageway, and out of the cave. After they were a good distance away from the cave, and the danger within, he found a nice flat area, and laid her down on the softest patch of dirt he could find. The girl was unconscious, most likely from shock, and her injuries, but it could have been his poison that did it. Whatever the cause, she needed help immediately, and there was only so much he could do. But none the less, he reached into his front pocket, and removed a small bottle of pale blue, pasty substance, and opened it by removing the cork. He poured a generous amount in his hand, and gently rubbed the substance on her bloody and broken arm, around the point of the injuries. He saw her twinge with pain, despite his best efforts to be gentle. Almost at once, her arm started twitching. He knew that her bones were growing back. He then repeated the process on her rather pale legs, which looked like they were getting poor circulation due to the discoloration, and then on her other arm, that looked like it was merely fractured. After a minute of gentle twitching, her limbs stopped twitching, her legs regained their color, and her limbs were as healed as good as he could have hoped for, seeing as his knowledge in wound healing was a bit lacking.. He had to resort to using potions, and mediocre magic, while some could do it all by magic. Oh well, it could be worse, he thought, as he turned towards the cave. Some can't heal at all, so I should be happy.. Focusing at the cave entrance, he saw a dark figure, that was the demon, stumble from between the rocks, and out into the canyon. He looked off balance, but he did not make the mistake of underestimating the beast. "Where are you, you little bastard?" he heard it's demonic, sinister voice bellow in fury. "I'm going to disembowel you for that!" Knowing that the girl would be alright, he turned towards the demon, and ran with everything he had. "I hope your not talking to me!" he yelled at it as he was closing in to attack. With a practiced hand, he grabbed the handle of his Katana, and looking the demon directly in his red, glowing eyes, he thrust his sword out. He heard a metallic clink, as the sword slid from it's sheath, and saw a flash of silver as he extending it ahead of him. It appeared the demon was also ready for a fight, he saw it extend a long, thorny arm, and a slivery substance began floating around his boney hand. He watched in as it took shape, quickly assembeling itself into a long, curved sword, with an extra long handle that looked to be a Femur from a large animal. He focused his Gen-tsu, as he raised his sword, and felt a tingling throughout his body, as a bright red light surrounded his body. Feeling very angry at the demon, he jumped up into the air, and with all the force he could muster, he thrust his sword down onto it's head with all his might. His attack was a failure. Just as he had expected, the demon was not stupid, and fast, and somehow he had managed to block his attack with his own boney sword. "Too predictable, Regulator!" he heard the demon growl, as it slung him away like a frisbee caught in the wind. He hit the ground several feet away, and spun to a stop on the canyon floor. He felt dizzy, and the world was spinning slightly as he sat up. He didn't feel injured, so without waiting a second longer, he launched himself to his feet, raised his sword and charged the beast. He increased his Gen-tsu to a swirling vortex of red energy that totally enveloped him, and switched his grip on his sword to an underhand position. He saw the demon try to compensate for the coming attack, but too late. He felt the blade make contact, and felt the subtle vibration of it cutting flesh, and then saw a torrent of blood as his sword sliced through the demon's chest. He spun away from the demon, and raised his sword for another attack. But the demon didn't look concerned. Instead it looked at the injury on his chest. He didn't give the demon time to recover. He rushed him again, only this time, he prepared for barrage of attacks. With elegance, he slashed the demon six times in different directions across it's body. The demon tried to dodge, but he was to fast for it to make contact. He read the demons' movements, and adjusted himself accordingly. With a spinning jump, he dodged the demons efforts to slice him, and launched his sword sideways, slashing the demon's throat, and sending him skidding backwards twenty feet. He landed softly, and flipping his sword once, he rasied his Katana over his head, and prepared for another attack. He saw the demon looked down at this bleeding body, and then smile. Disregarding the injuries, the demon looked back up at him with a new found understanding. "So..." he heard the demon say. "Your not just any ordinary Regulator, are you?" "No," he told it firmly. "I'm a Spirit Master, and I will Vanquish you back to the Underworld." He saw it flinch, but in amusement, not in fear. It started laughing, and he wondered what was so damn funny. "A Spirit Master eh?" the demon asked curiously, the wounds on his body healing. "I have to admit, that is a new one on me." It was clear that regular sword techniques weren't going to do the job. He had to use his special ability if he wanted to slay the demon. "Then watch, and learn," he told it, grabbing a multicolored, hexagonal crystal on a chain around his neck. He ripped it off, and then without even glancing at his sword, he tilted it forward, and slid the crystal into a hexagonal slot in the butt of the handle. At once, a brght light eminated from several red and green jewels on the handle, their light piercing the advanced darkness, and illuminating the chasm. He could feel himself making contact with the spiritual realm, as a white curtain closed in around him, and he lost sight of the demon. "Spirit Release; Red Dragon!" he yelled, and an enormous power over took him. His Gen-tsu exploded to new heights, as the torrent of swirling energy turned into a fiery tornado, that burned a black hole in the earth as it swirled around him. He felt powerful, like nothing could stop him, as he took off in a full run towards the demon, his hatred guiding him, and the power of the Red Dragon fueling him. He hoisted his sword high, as he neared the demon. He wanted to end this quickly, and this was the time to do it. "Speed enchantment; Dragon Fury!" he yelled, and his speed increased ten fold. The world was a blur, as was the demon, as he came closer and closer to the demon. He thrust his sword forward, and felt in sink thorugh the demon's middle, as he continued to run towards the canyon wall. He heard a crash, and felt a vibration in his blade, as the demon pierced the solid rock wall. He shielded his head with his free hand, as rocks and rubble rained down on him. Pulling his sword free, he jumped back to a safe distance, and prepared for anything the demon may do next. But as the dust in the air cleared, he did not see the demon, but instead saw a massive hole that had formed in the wall where the demon had made contact. He thought it was over, so he slung his blade to the side, cleaning it of the dark blood that coated it in a thick layer. But it seemed it was not over. He heard a low rumbling sound, and the ground began shaking. He looked surprisingly at the hole, and saw many cracks stretching from it's center, across the canyon wall. A massive bang filled the air, as rocks and rubble exploded from the hole, causing several large rocks to careen towards him at high speeds. He barely moved in time to avoid a particualrly large rock that was sent shooting towards him, and then a bit shocked, he gazed at the snarling demon that stood, uninjured in front of the canyon wall. "Your speed is impressive, Spirit Master. But it won't be enough to defeat me. I have been slaying Regulators for centuries. My power grows exponentially every time I devour their souls," he heard the demon growl, in a voice that seemed to shake the air. An explosion of black energy shot from the demon, and the pressure of the demon was crushing. "Let me show you my true power." He watched in shock, as the energy swirled around the demon, it's rotation, and control was flawless, and he couldn't help but appreciate the demon's power. It was impressive, no doubt, and he realized that he may have no choice but to use his own ultimate power in order to slay this foe. "Demon summon; Necroarmy!" the demon roared, and he ground began to shake once again, only this time, it shook with a vengeance that made a volcanic eruption seem miniscule. Several large rocks shot from up from the ground, and he now realized what he was dealing with. This demon, was the foulest, and most vile of all demons; he was a Necromancer, and he had summoned an army of undead Necromancers, as backup to do his bidding. Each of the rocks split open, and then melted away like wax in a flame, only to reveal seven grotesque Necromancers, that were no prettier than the orignal. "Kill him!" he heard the original Necromancer growl, and at once, all the demons rushed towards him, wielding similar, intimidating bone swords. But he wasn't worried. He knew they were merely puppets; neither alive, nor dead, and they were not nearly as strong as the original. He had a technique in mind, one that he had never actually used in combat before, but should do the trick. He focused his Gen-tsu once again, fusing his own energy with that of the Red Dragon, causing his Gen-tsu level to spike to an unseen high. It was risky to do this. The power could cause him severe injury, but at this point, it did not matter if he died in order to finish this demon. It must be destroyed before it can kill again. He waited until the seven Necromancers were within two swords distance, and then used a patented technique his Master had taught him years ago. He rotated his sword in a wide arc, and then thrusting his sword towards the demons, he shouted "Phantom blade!" It was over in a flash. He saw a whizz of blue, sword shaped energy shoot from his blade, and watched it expand sideways, as it neared the demons. He heard a slice, as it made contact with the Necormancers. All of the demons came to an abrupt halt at once, and he saw blood trickling from their middle where his Phantom Blade technique had struck them. One by one, each of the demons collapsed to the ground in two pieces, severed neatly in two by his technique. A loud whoosh was heard, as each of the demons exploded into a cloud of grey ash, that floated away in the strong wind that flowed through the canyon. "No!" he heard the original Necormancer scream, his voice ripping through the air, and reverberating off of the canyon walls. "Fine- It looks like I'll have to take care of this myself..." Without warning, the Necromancer bolted forward, and was on top of him in a flash. The demon slashed at him ruthlessly with his sword, which he dodged by mere inches. The demon's speed had grown, and he wasn't sure if he could dodge his attacks in present time forever. Without missing a beat, the demon thrust his sword upwards, and this time, he could not dodge it. He didn't feel it, but he heard it: The unmistakable sound of his flesh tearing, and his blood spilling on the ground. Before he could recover, he felt a boney fist sink into his stomach, and the next thing he knew, he was flying backwards at an unstoppable pace. He felt severe pain throughout his body, and was blinded by a cloud of debris, as he collided with the far side of the canyon wall. He tried to wriggle free, but he seemed to be stuck in place. He glanced at his arms, and saw that he was imbedded into the wall several feet, locked in place by the rock wall. A vertical cut on his stomach caught his attention. It was deep, and bleeding profusely, and he knew that it was life threatening. Remembering the demon, he gazed forward, and saw a flash of black energy closing in on him, as the demon rushed him again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by Chromos; 28-02-2008 at 05:11 PM. |

Chromos... THere're a bit of spelling mistake, and as for story itself- the pace was too fast, like this whole scene should be several pages in length. Not 5, remember there's nothing juicier in action flics than the action itself. I have a tremendous headache from kick boxing so i won't go into detail.. perhaps chapter 2. Cya later.

It will be several pages long when I'm finished. The one thing that did stand out to me, was how I made him use his Spirit release so fast, and after thinking about it earlier, I think I want more action between that point to kind of build up to it. So I know what you mean by moving too fast. Thanks, you confirmed what I was thinking. Keep the comments coming.

This Chapter is shorter than the last, but it reveals part of Kurio's true power.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2: Ultimate Power -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was but one thing he could do, and he knew it. He would have to exert a ton of Gen-tsu in order to free himself. A technique called a Full- Body Blaster. He focused his Gen-tsu, but didn't let it escape to the outside, instead, he built the pressure up internally, until his body began to shake from the internal pressure. He heard the demon roar, and then saw him leap into the air towards him, it's sword held at the ready. The demon was going to impale him, but he wouldn't let that happen, a life was at stake. With a grunt, he released all of his Gen-tsu in a single, mighty blast that echoed off of the chasm walls. The blast of his Gen-tsu drowned out the sound of the crumbling rock around him, and as he slid onto the ground. Rocks flew in all directions, severla nearly hittign him as they whizzed past his head. One rock managed to nail the demon square in the face, which knocked him off of his feet, causing the demon a backflip before hitting the ground hard. He knew now was his chance to do some damage. He concentrated all of his Gen-tsu in his right hand, and saw a solid red ball of energy forming in the palm of his hand. Pushing off from the wall, he exploded from the rock face at incredible speed, towards the demon who has started to stand up. "Secret Technique number 3," he yelled, as he reared his arm backwards. He was within punching distance of the demon now, and he felt the ball of energy begin to vibrate as it grew unstable. "Rupture!" he yelled, and thrust his hand forward with all of his might. His hand made contact with the demon's chest, and he felt it begin to pass into the demon's body. He heard the demon scream, as the ball of red energy exploded. He had focused on damaging the demon's internal organs, and hoped it would be enough to finish this battle. A massive boom filled the air, and he was blinded momentarily, as an explosion of red energy filled his ears, the red light blocked out all image of the demon. He heard a whizzing sound, and knew the demon was flying backwards towards the far wall. Since his speed enchantment still seemed to be working, he tore forward with a vengeance. He caught up with the airborne demon, and looked into the monster's eyes with all the cold fury he could muster, before jumping up into the air. He was eye level with the demon now, and he knew this time he had him. He focused all of his Gen-tsu in his arms, and began to punch relentlessly at the demon, making contact with every inch of thedemon's body, as the beast propel backwards faster, and faster with every punch he landed. Finally, he saw the rock wall ahead, and he spun once in the air, liek a Gymanst on a trampoline. He quickly shifted his Gen-tsu to his right leg, and with all the power he could muster, he side kicked the demon square in the mid-section. The demon hit the wall with tremendous force, shaking the entire valley on impact. That had to be it. The demon's internal organs were ruptured, and he doubted it could get up from such a furious attack. He planted both feet firmly on the ground, and dug his heels into the earth to slow himself down. He managed to stop mere feet away from the wall, and he flipped backwards, away from the danger zone. He peered through the cloud of dust, at the point where the demon collided with the wall. He went to raise his sword, but then realized he did not have his sword with him anymore. It must have fallen from his hand when the demon had knocked him into the far wall. But it didn't matter, there was no way the demon would walk away from that unijured, and no doubt he would be greatly weakened, if not killed from his attack. As the dust settled, he saw the demon stuck several feet within the wall. The rock in that section must have been especially hard, as he had expected the demon to have been embedded farther into the wall than it had. A searing pain ripped thorugh his body, and he looked down to see the cut to his stomach was bleeding badly. He fell to one knee, and clutched his stomach, hoping the battle was over, as his injury was slowly killing him. He heard a plop in front of him, and still barring hsi teeth in pain, he looked forward to see the demon laying face down on the ground. The beast wasn't moving, and he thought it was over. He turned around, and began to make his way towards the glint of the steel blade of his sword, laying feet away from the far wall. He suddenly felt something hit him hard in the back, and he grunted as searing pain ripped through him. He was lifted into the air, and flipped upside down. At first, he didn't know what hit him, but when he saw the demon's arm outstretched from his position on the ground, he understood. He had been struck by one of the demon's own techniques, and he felt stupid for turning his back on his opponent. He should've destroyed him while he was down. He landed on his head, and then flipped onto his back, sliding several feet to a stop. Whatever that technique was, it hurt badly, and he found it tough to move his body. He tilted his head back, only to see the demon get to his wobbly feet slowly. He was definently hurt, but apparently, not finished yet. He had to give the demon credit: this was turning out to be the toughest battle of his life. He heard the demon laugh, as he it approached him, in a limp, clutching his stomach. "I'll.. give you credit, Regulator. This is the first time.. I've been injured like this," he heard the demon gasp, still coming closer. "But this battle is over. You can't continue in your condition. But don't worry, I'll be sure that the girl knows that you failed, not because you didn't try, but because you were too weak to save her." That was what he needed to hear to continue. He flipped over, and began to push himself to his feet. He was hurt badly, but he would not let this demon win. "Don't tell me..." he growled, getting fully onto his feet. "When I'm finished. I still have plenty of fight left in me!" he yelled, with all the authority he could muster. The demon stopped approaching him, but instead stood there, looking both amused and impressed. He glanced sideways momentarily, and saw his sword laying mere feet away from him. He bent over and picked it up, wiping off the layer of dust that coated the blade. "This battle is far from over!" he yelled, raising his sword, and staring into the demon's merciless, red eyes. The Necromancer took a step forward, and so did he. He wasn't about to back down, and he would never quit. This demon was not going to devour that innocent girl on his watch. "I applaud you, Regulator," the demon said in that familiar, demonic tone, a wide, toothy smile stretching across his face. "Never, in all my years, have I encountered anyone like you. You are gravely injured, and yet you still wish to fight." He smiled at the demon. What a fool, trying to play off his apparent injuries. "Quit trying to act like your not hurt. That technique I hit you with, ruptured several vital organs. Your close to death yourself." "Ah, so that's what's you did to me.. Yes, I can feel it..." the demon responded, looking at his stomach, and staggering a bit to the left. "I should've put more into that last technique then, as to return the favor, but I must admit, I wasn't thinking clearly." They stared each other down for several moments. The only sound that could be heard was the whipping of the wind through the canyon, and the sound of clapping thunder, as a storm rolled in. He was glad for the brief break, it gave him a chance to assess his options: He could rush the demon again, and hack at him, but he knew that would be futile, as the demon seemed to be impervious to mortal attacks. His best bet was a combination of magic, or Gen-tsu techniques. Then there was his ultimate power. Something he had never used in combat, and wasn't sure what would happen if he used it now. The wound in his stomach was throbbing, and bleeding, and he had to stop the bleeding soon, as he his vision was becoing blurry, and he began to feel light headed. The only thing he had to stop the bleeding, was the healing potion he had used on the girl earlier, but he wasn't sure if there was enough left in the bottle to help himself. He gave it a shot anyway, and pulled out the bottle of pale blue, substance that's consistancy was that of molasses from his front pocket, and gazed at the miniscule amount inside. It was enough to stop his bleeding, but he doubted it was enough to totally heal it. He popped the cork from the neck of the bottle, and poured the remainder of the substance in his free hand. He then lifted up the front of his overcoat, and red shirt, and rubbed it carefully over the deep slice in his stomach. It stung like fire as it was applied, but the pain was short lived, as he slowly left the pain being relieved, and watched the bleeding stop. His flesh half healed, and he saw, to his relief, that it would be good enough for now. He still needed proper treatment, but at this point, the girl's life was far more important that his own. With the pain reduced, he stood tall, and then glanced over at the girl, who was still unconscious on the ground forty feet away. He could only make out her outline when the lightning lit up the sky. Even though it was close to morning now, the chasm was darker than ever due to the storm. He regained his composure, and then with the strongest, and most comtemptful voice he could muster in his present state, he growled at the demon: "Come at me with everything you've got. Don't hold back," "Your a spirited one, aren't you?" the demon growled, looking a bit surprised at his words. "If you wish me to fight you with everything I have, then I have no problem with doing so!" the demon roared, as long, black, bat-like wings erupted from his shoulders, and stretched out twenty feet on each side. The Necromancer exploded towards him, flying at full speed, and he now knew he had no choice but to use his ultimate power. Since this Necromancer possessed wings, then he had no chance of beating him here on the ground. He clutched his sword tightly, and raised it up high. "Ultimate Power; Full-Spirit Posession!" he yelled, and he felt a searing pain rip through his body, as his body began to change shape. He felt a prickling snesing on his shoulder blades, and then felt his flesh tearing, as red, dragon wings ripped through his skin, and stretched out twenty feet on both sides. He barely had time to look at the wings, red, meaty, and powerful, when he felt sharp spines rip through his stomach and chest. The pain was terrible, but as the same time, relieving, as he felt the injury on his stomach completely heal. He had forgotten that the Red Dragon's Gen-tsu posessed healing powers, and he now felt a bit foolish for using the remainder of his potion on his wound. His clothes tore from his body, as he watched spiny, red scales cover his body. Within seconds, the scales covered every inch of him, and he felt as though these sclaes covered him in awesome protection that was impenetrable. Even his hair and eyes changed; His hair felt longer, thicker, and he could see that it turned red, because his bangs had grown well past his eyeline. His vision became much sharper than before, and he realized they had a zoom effect to them, much like an Eagles' eyes. He could see the Necormancer as clearly as if he was standing right in front of him. He looked down at his hands, and saw that they were clawed, and dark red, just like that of a dragon's. The power he felt was the strongest he had ever felt, roughly five times more powerful than he felt before, and felt as though he was never injured. His Gen-tsu exploded to a whole new level, the vortex of red fire was blinding, and hot, and it's insane power shook the Earth, and it's rotation ripped everything out of the ground within a ten foot radius. The debris of rocks, and uproot plants, mixed in with his Gen-tsu, and turned into dust as they disintegrated in the intense heat. He knew it was time to end this battle. There was no time to spare, as this new power would likely kill him if he used it for too long. He roared loudly, as he pushed off the ground, and flapped his dragon wings furiously, flying as fast as he could towards the advancing Necromancer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by Chromos; 28-02-2008 at 07:29 PM. |
