Side Effects

They said that this was a completely safe procedure. They said I would have no “unwanted” side effects. They said a lot of things, all of which were untrue. I signed up for it because, well, I’m poor. I’m in my second year of college, and my funds are slowly running out. I can bet that you would do the same thing if you were in my position. It was supposed to be one of those harmless tests. You know, the ones you get paid to do?

Monday, I went into the lab. I signed my life away (basically), then they took me into one of the examination rooms. The doctor came in and blathered on and on about the injection, speaking jargon only he could understand. I was falling asleep. Anyway, I didn’t really care about all the scientific crap surrounding the injection. They said if it went the way it was supposed to go, I would just feel really happy for the next few weeks. Not so bad, right?

So I went home and got in bed. I felt so tired.

Basically this is a teaser. It's not as clean as it will be in the end, but I want to know if you guys think I should continue. It'll be a babyfur story, I'm thinking.

There's so many possibilities for a veiled Kafka reference!

As for continuing the story, go for it. Who cares what other people think? Write what makes you happy when it does. Don't wait for people to approve or disapprove of your idea. In the long run, while we may critique it kindly or harshly, what we say doesn't matter two shits unless you want it to, and a writer needs write first for themselves before anybody else.
