Default Like Spiders From The Damp Wall (starting my novel finally)

Quote:
Ok guys X3 I've been hammering to finally get something worthwhile written, and I've had a lot of people who don't even know what the heck a tb/dl is tell me that they liked the way it was starting out. Hehe hooray for unscathed people! I have the second chapter on my other laptop (just got a new one for graduation) and I'll also be adding onto this periodically if you guys like it a whole lot. I have an extremely complex story-line in my mind, it's just difficult to explain >.> ok well here it is, enjoy!

Chapter 1

To be perfectly honest, I thought I would never connect with Marcos ever. I first met him at a concert at the local venue. It was just a bunch of local bands, nobody anybody really came to see unless they were a rabid fan. Which is exactly what Marcos was. He was there to see an indie band called Steel Steples. The lead singer sounded like he was crying rather than singing as he threw himself all over the stage, and the guitarist's equipment looked like it had been dug out of a memorobilia basement and scraped against a concrete wall. Marcos was the only one who was dancing. If one were to call it a dance at all.
He approached me after the show. I had bought some of the other band's merchandise. I was wearing three different tee-shirts, one over the other, and had several demo cds in my bag. He seemed hesitant to speak to me at first, but the first words he ever spoke to me were "Hey, what did you think of THEM!?" as he jammed his thumb behind him in the direction of the stage through the wall. We then identified on the most common level of our generation, music. I remember the procession of the conversation rather clearly to this day. I kind of shrugged my shoulders "Yeah, I guess they were ok,"
"I love Steel Steples! Their music is so moving to me,"
"Is that right?" I said looking off to the side waving to one of my other "friends" who had tagged along with me to the show. She was off flirting with another band's bassist.
"Well who did you come here to see?" he said kind of cocking his head to the side.
"Portal," I mentioned. They were a pop-punk band from Oklahoma who I had been listening to for a couple of months then.
"Oh! I liked them too!" he oozed.
At this point my interest level was in the negatives, so I made a motion that I was going to go talk to someone else, and with a lazy salute I turned. He stopped me. He stuck out his hand quickly siezing mine and shaking enthusiastically.
"My name is Marcos," he said smiling.
"Brendan," I said kind of pulling away, signaling that he was going to give my wrist shaken-baby syndrome if he didn't stop sometime soon. And that was that, or so I thought.
I had never really noticed him at shool, but now that he "knew me" he started waving to me when we passed in the hallway but that was the extent of our relationship. We had no classes together. And I, being a senior and he a sophomore, had separate lunches. And it's not like he was hard to notice at all. He was your typical "scene" kid except with more color and charisma about him. He seemed likable enough, I just never really have been open to meeting new people. That's just the way I am.
We never really started hanging out until after a party. It was a saturday and I had been invited over to one of my friend's house for a friday-night party. And not the ones that you see the cops showing up at and people jumping fences. No loud music, no beer-bongs, no nothing that you would see in a typical hollywood high-school party. No, we sat in my friend's basement with about six or seven other people, myself included, and watched tv (basic cable) and cracked open a stolen bottle of vodka. Marcos showed up a little later than everyone else, and to this day I still have no idea who in the hell invited him. But there he was. His face lit up when he saw me and waved happily to me "Hey Brendan! Long time no see!"
"Same to you," I said, my attention fixed to the slowly filling shot-glass in front of me. It wasn't long after everyone had a couple of shots and the laughter had died down, that everyone started crawling into corners and sleeping bags and falling asleep to "Who's Line Is It Anyway" playing on low volume. As luck would have it, Marcos and I stayed up sitting on the couch watching tv. I had probably thrown back more booze than I should have. But I was feeling fine, I wasn't sick, yet.
It initially came as a shock to me, even in my drunken state, when Marcos started outing himself in front of me. I figured it was random babble that he wouldn't remember in the morning, but for some reason it clung to my head. And he, being of gangly stature, looked like a half of a shot would have floored him.
He tossed his head my way and slurred "Ya know what... Brrrandon?"
I was reclining in the overstuffed couch with my eyes closed, my hands clasped around my empty shot glass, "What's that?" I mumbled.
"I... like... to wear diapers," he said stifling a little drunken giggle.
My eyes flew wide open and I looked at him as he smiled back at me, chest rising and falling rapidly as he supressed quiet laughter.
"You... what?" I stumbled.
"Diapers. Ya know, baby diapers? I wear them. And I like it," he leaned back, all too much satisfied with this little confession.
"Really? That's... strange," I said leaning my head back against the couch.
"Yup. I guess so, huh?" he said, almost whispering.
"I won't believe it until I see it," I said, almost challenging.
"Well... why don't we hang out more often?" he said as I saw him looking at me inquisitively out of the corner of my eye "I mean, you're a really neat person, I think"
"Thanks," I mumbled.

Thats... Umm... Well now... To have a confession floor into it so openly.... More like Drunkenly, but still...

I think... I... NEED MORE NOW!

Just kidding. It was rather enthralling, seemingly fluid and smooth. Yet it was also still kept to a sort of high pace, and a good way to end with a cliffhanger like that. Seriously though, when can we expect more?

You already know what I think of this story, Jeffy. But I'll put it up here.

It does have a good movement to it. I assume that the confession came so quickly merely because it is not supposed to the the climax of the plot, but simply an action that begins the rise to the climax.

Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the next installment.

I'm still re-writing the second chapter guyse. This is actually turning into more of a short story rather than a novel like I expected it to come out as (being a gt english student, i've been lectured and taught over the past 3 years to collect my thoughts comprehensively and not take up that much room otherwise you lose the readers interest). I'll probably re-write the whole first 5 chapters I have plotted out and poste em here later in the summer
