The current entirety of the short-story can be accessed as an .html file through the following link: "Birdsong"
This is a story to which I have not added anything since its last update several months ago. Posting it again will encourage me to continue on with its arc. This is an incomplete piece, far from finished and still unrefined. Please mind any spelling or syntax mistakes, as they will be ironed out in time. This story could be considered a short-story companion to Three Days' War, which is my nearly-completed novel project from which I've posted the first few chapters. In relation to Three Days' War, "Birdsong" follows the exploits of Alli long after the events of the novel. As for what leads her from that point to this ... well, you'll have to be patient and wait as small points of the plot are revealed through both works to fill in the blanks. This takes place approximately thirty years after Three Days' War, and can be easily read as a separate piece. New readers, I hope you enjoy; old readers, I'll have more for you soon! Thanks! Note: Hey UnMarth! You apparently make an unexpected cameo in this story (as a kindly native woman)! A mentioned character's name is Umarth (ou-mar-ta), which also happens to be the phonetic pronunciation of a Powhatan word that generally means "for / of children". I never noticed the resemblance between your screen-name and the character's name upon first writing it, but there's some nifty little information for you! |
