Hey everybody (nice big warm cuddles to you all). I am so sorry for yet another question, I am just really intrigued to find out how people manage to walk in Nappies. Basically when I have a Nappy on at home and I try walking, it seems impossible, I just cannot walk without extremely waddling. Even when my Nappy is really dry I cannot seem to walk with it on and when I have wet my Napoy a few times it is just impossible, it sags so much! I am just really intrigued how incontinent people managed to wear Nappies and walk in them. Could it be that I am not putting my Nappies on tight enough?

I am so sorry to ask another silly question, I am just so intrigued, maybe I am just not putting them on correctly?

I don't know what you're wearing but I can't think of any diapers out of the pack that make me waddle anymore. It was more of a thing when I first started wearing out and about, and something like ABU Space does have a minor effect on my gait but it's hardly a waddle.

Muchos cuddles to you too. :)

Honestly, it just takes some getting used to. I've noticed with myself the tighter my diaper is, the more I waddle. The same is true with how full it is. Being an AB, I like the waddle. :) It might not be for everyone though. Also, I think if I were IC myself, I'd go with a thinner, more discreet option.

As a person who has a limp, I just use it as my excuse.

I remember I used to find myself walking differently when I started wearing. I think it was because I wasn't putting them on quite right. You want to pull them up firmly towards your groin before taping. And the angle and position of the tapes makes a big difference too. I have the lower tapes almost horizontal, and not too close to the edge of the diaper. And the top ones pulling the top of the diaper over my hips (so it doesn't sag), and angling them slightly downwards.

I dunno... maybe everyone's method is different, and maybe everyone's body is shaped differently, so... none of this may apply!

I definitely found that it took a lot of practice to get the fit just right.

Are you wearing plastic panties (diaper cover) over your diaper ?
Consider getting a size that hugs the diaper snug against you.
You did not say if you are using cloth diapers but I think
you are referring to those that tape on. Do you have the kind
that have 2 tapes or 4 ? The end of the diaper with tapes is
wrapped from the rear to front the end that does not have tapes.
For some a challenge in how to put these on standing. Best
methods have been laying on a bed or a couch. Gravity is not
your best friend when try to tape and tie loose ends with two
hands when you need 4. Suggestion here is to lean up against
a wall pinching the back of the diaper between you and the wall.
Then you can pull up the crotch piece and bring one of the ends
around to front snugging things up and taping leaving enough
room for the other side to be equally taught. Now is the time
for a sort of compression fit diaper cover to keep the diaper
firmly in place. There is going to some bulk in the crotch the
diapers are designed that way - urine like water seeks its own
level whether you are standing or even sitting - laying down
creates a different drainage field. But area in the crotch is an
area of prime absorbency and if you have a narrow thigh gap
that area is going feel like bunching your knickers up dry wet
or moist. Something you are going to have to adjust to.
Obviously if you wear smaller diapers the area of absorbency
is going to be reduced and not accomplish much except using
or changing diapers more often. Thining the area in the crotch
is not going to be a satisfactory solution either causing
potential leakage.
Wearing pants or shorts that have a tight seam in the crotch
area is going to compound your problem - suggestion is wear
yoga; sweat pants or an "A" frame skaters skirt to reduce the
bunching in that area.
With pull-up diapers you may have less bulk but you will not
have the absorbency of the tape on or cloth.
No matter what type of diaper you use if you are a heavy
consistent wetter don't forget the plastic moisture resistant
diaper cover or river city is going to have other problems
down stream !

Reading about in the Forum there are some that relish the bulkiness
and the waddling about walking. For first time wearers new to
the incontinent scene it will take some time and adjustment to
walk about comfortably but that is what you will have to do in lieu
of a catheter and external drainage bag - last course of resort !

The only diaper that I have a problem walking in is the rearz safari. Those will make me waddle a bit so I couldn't wear them around others. I would recommend getting some cushies or ID slip those are thin enough to walk while wearing. I usually don't wear pants when I'm in diapers but when I do I wear my underwear over them with jeans and I still don't have any issues walking around.

Hey thank you so much for your excellent, extremely helpful and informative post, I can't explain how much I appreciate all of it. The Nappies I wear only have 2 tapes and they are extremely difficult to put on :( Unfortunately there is no way I can get plastic pants because they will just be found in the laundry (I still live with parents) but I will definitely take on board all what you have explained! Another thing is again, living with parents and in the UK I am currently limited to just one brand of Nappies (I am too nervous to order from different companies due to delivery times and discreetness) but anyway, one thing for sure is when I live alone in the future I will be trying every single Nappy in the world haha :) It's going to be so fun and keep me so busy LOL, I really cannot wait. But honestly, thank you so much and to everybody else who has replied here, the Nappies I wear are "Cuddlz" plastic backed. They make me waddle even when completely dry but I am just so happy I get to wear a Nappy every now and then, I guess I have just got to keep practicing getting the perfect fit (I have been trying to tape it on at different levels of tightness and pulling the back part of my Nappy up higher etc) I must say it has to be the greatest experiment of all time :)

Well, the old Cuddlz are just about the thickest nappies on the market, and they're by far the widest between the legs, so it makes sense that they might make you waddle. Every other brand (including the new Cuddlz) is thinner and has less bulk between the legs. They also have a slightly odd fit, so they're probably the wrong brand to practice getting the perfect fit.

If you want less bulk and less waddling, you should try a different brand.

Try getting the nappies that you can buy at Boots - they are much less thick but they do a reasonable job. You will have no problem walking in those

Are they thicker and wider than ABU's space/Paws/Simple? Space may not be the thickest (I wonder, DC Amore maybe?) but they seem to be the widest while folded, which is usually the crotch width.

I don't know these diapers. The old Cuddlz are 19 cm = 7.48 inches wide when folded.
