The Best of Both Worlds

I'm not particularly a fan of breathable cloth-like disposables and given the choice I would go for the best plastic disposable over the best breathable disposable. I have opened my mind some to cloth-like diapers and would wear any recommended good ones probably with some PUL pants over them for added protection and that classic plastic feel. In the very likely event that all or most medical diaper brands will go cloth-like/breathable I need some suggestions for the best of the best cloth-like products so I know what to get. I would also like to know the best recommendations for plastic backed products so I know the "best of both worlds" so to speak.
