Thread: Extreme Fear of driving

    Default Extreme Fear of driving

I feel like a failure and disappointment. I still don't have my license. And the thought of me driving brings be to near panic attack anxiety levels. I can't drive with my dad because I WILL have a panic attack during the driving. And my mom is too afraid to drive with me. I don't know why I am so very terrified of driving. I am a failure in life.

I have a similar feeling towards driving. Despite having a learner's permit when I was in my teens, I never got my license. I'm too scared to drive.

I highly doubt you'd be as good as you are at cinematography if you were a failure. Sometimes we don't always get the things we want when we want them, but if you give up completely you'd never get them. Focus on the things you are good at, build on them and make them your own.

I have experienced the same fear of driving when I was your age.

It's a huge stretch to say you're a failure just because you don't drive. Lots of people don't drive for various reasons.

I didn't get my G1 until I was 18... I'm 25 and still only on my G2. I was afraid to drive, it gave me anxiety attacks too.

What did it for me, was being forced to drive in the middle of a blizzard, in the middle of December, in QUEBEC CITY After they had over 12 foot snowbanks. Not to mention my van had bald 2-season tires.

I got my G2 only a week before that happened, and now driving doesn't scare me at all.

I haven't got my driving license and i don't particularly want to learn how to drive, due to that I'm scared and don't trust other drivers.

I wondered, do you live in a city or a more rural area? If you can get out to where there isn't much traffic and just practice driving, I think it will come to you.

I had the same problem when I learned to drive. My dad was and still is an asshole of a teacher. He only yelled orders or said I was doing something wrong. There was no positives with him. I asked his girlfriend to teach me. She has always been super nice and loving to me. I got the hang of it after awhile. I was still afraid to drive on highways and busy roads, but I got passed that too after awhile. The key is not to give up. You have to trust yourself. Try finding a third party to help teach you to drive, and go slow build up your confidence.

first you are no failure at all secondly i would say that the best option here is to go see a therapist who specialises in phobias because thats what it sounds like to me
