Thread: Hillbilly Punk bands and Diapers!

Default Hillbilly Punk bands and Diapers!

I just read this article in today's paper. It's about a band I've never heard of before called the New Swears. They're coming to our Bluesfest festival this summer. The headline of the print version caught my attention; "Four Crazy Dudes and a Diaper." (How could that not get my attention?).

If you want to wear a diaper in public, I guess you just have to join a hillbilly punk band.

OK, guys, which one of you went and joined a hillbilly punk band without telling the rest of us?

P-Funk All Stars had Garry Shider in the 70's, he was known as the Diaper Man, as he performed in only a cloth diaper, so these guys are not as cutting edge or crazy as the article seems to imply - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry_Shider

Really, I think that the Klingonz (a Scot Psychobilly band) started the diaper wearing on stage years ago. At least in the any kind of "Billy" scene. Not that I'm knocking anyone else doing it. Just recording history

Few realize the lengths small-time bands will go to in order to boost attendance. People love to see bands who perform the most outrageous acts you can['t] think of. It's one way to counter the fact that most of their music is somewhere between mediocre and average with their good songs saved for last. I went to GWAR and had a great time cuz the show they put on was awesome, even though I didn't care much for their music.

This makes me smile I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers also used to perform in diapers.

Somehow, I didn't have any trouble not wearing diapers when I played keyboards with my rock band. I thought about it however, under my black suit. I hate public bathrooms.

I don't think they did it on a regular basis, but the Red Hot Chile Peppers definitely played concerts in diapers from time to time. Check out this video. I also recall seeing them on the Grammy awards many years ago when one of the band members was wearing a diaper.

Disturbingly undeniable, if only it was Under the Bridge.
