Yes, that most divisive of celebrations is coming up. So, how do you feel about Valentine's Day - both as a concept, and in terms of whether you enjoy the day itself?

I like the fact it serves as a kind of reminder of how special your partner should be to you, but on the other hand I feel the message is often lost under all the commercialised focus of 'you should buy this, you should buy that', in the same way that the genuine message of Christmas is lost. It can also be a pretty irritating day when you're single, partly because it can feel lonely, and also because it's impossible to go out anywhere without seeing an over-the-top public display of affection!

I don't really celebrate it to be honest. Neither does my fiance. Though the first you we where together we did exchange gifts. Now it's really just another day to us.

If anything .. I like the concept of the Japanese version of Valentine's day.

I like the idea of Valentine's day. I like that it serves as a little reminder to love your special someone! And it's nice to have something to look forward to in February. It's such a drab month and there's so little going on in Jan and Feb after Christmas and New Year festivities.

In saying that though, I don't really buy into the commercialism of it. Charlie and I tend to take time off the week after Valentine's day and try and get away for a night or go out for a meal. We don't really do gifts, it all seems a bit unecessary. It's much more intimate, to me, to spend uninterrupted time with each other, or to have a nice experience together!
