I thought this was funny. Pooh bear is getting trouble over no pants.

It gets even worse. I heard on the news this morning that they had concerns about Pooh's sexual preferences and referred to him as an 'inappropriate hermaphrodite.'

From a Canadian perspective, we're pretty pissed about this. Winnie the Pooh was named after Winnipeg, a Canadian city in Manitoba. I'm wondering if they're just confusing Pooh with Canada's other famous pants-less hermaphrodite, Justin Bieber.

I think it's silly we are getting caught up on whether animals are wearing pants. The shirts humanize them and make them relatable, but they are still supposed to be animals! In Pooh's case isn't he a teddy bear? Teddy bears don't have any physical sex! I thought he was full of stuffing!

Are we going to start being mean to Donald too now? Just imagine a bear normally wearing a shirt, you wouldn't still be able to tell at a glance what gender/sex they were unless you some bearologist or something I imagine. It's a shame that people want to preserve innocent things really. Makes me weep just a little.

I didn't realise that it was so important that fictional animals were biologically accurate. Sure, I get the criticism of Barbie, for example, being problematic because many young girls (and some boys) grow up idolising this figure who has an absolutely flawless complexion and is almost impossibly slim. However, complaining because Pooh bear doesn't wear pants or have a bear penis is stupid.

So, I can understand the issue if a human doll is made without being anatomically accurate, because it can give young ones the wrong impression about their bodies, but kids know that Winnie the Pooh is a bear, therefore he won't look or act the same as them. A toddler might want to wear a dress to be like Barbie, but I doubt they'd pull their diaper off just because Pooh doesn't wear one.

That article gets really dark near the end. Like I am wondering why those council members were even thinking thing like this. It sounds like they don't understand imagination and that fictional things are just that, fictional.

    He's a teddy bear...
I don't understand this logic; are they going to make it illegal for teddy bears to not wear clothes?

...seriously? It's a pretend character, for crying out loud.

I wonder if these politicians need more to do with their time. I never once considered Pooh's sexuality or gender identity till now. Personally, I'd really rather not think of beloved childhood characters like that. Just...awkward.

Here's a list of other cartoon characters they may need to ban while they're at it.
