    Default Diapers and infertility

    Hi all,
The wife and I are trying to get preggers. We've had a tubal, that resulted in a miscarriage and the loss of an ovary. I know heat reduces sperm count...but could my wearing frequently slow my production? Ive done research, and the Internet says its inconclusive, but I was wondering if anyone here has any solid info. Thanks!

Heat doesn't reduce sperm count per se. It can, but not in the time sense you're talking about. A male child whose testicles don't descend for a few years will have issues. Simply holding your sperm closer to your body won't reduce your count. What it will do, however, is interfere with your sperm's maturation process and has the end result that they won't be quite as robust. They won't swim as strongly, they won't home as well on the egg, etc etc. The good news in that regard is that sperm are constantly maturing through your lifetime. Let the homeboys hang free and in a few weeks any negative effects will be erased. Going naked would be ideal, but doctors usually recommend you just switch from briefs to boxers until the strip turns blue. Also, while it's never been demonstrated in humans, it's known that sperm quality correlates to birth defect rates in cattle. Doing everything you can to give the little guys a boost when you're trying to conceive is a good idea.

In any case, the tubal is probably the bigger issue. Tubal ligation is done for the express purpose of conferring sterility.

I have had the same concern recently. I wear about 6 to 12 hours a day 4 days a week. I keep it "neat" down there as well, which can contribute to heat in some ways.

I had a seamen analysis last week and my results were normal.

I hot tub quite frequently as well, and our specialist was not too worried about it. Diet and exercise apparently affect fertility quite a bit thou. Eat your veggies, almonds and take a walk a few times a week ;-)

I hope that helps a bit? YMMV of course.

DlJim made a great point there.

We also want to have a baby in the next year and i suffer from candida infection, which is a yeast build up in my system.
That can make you infertile, but fortunately a Candida diet or a low Gi diet can reduce candida and increase fertility.
    Good luck friend.

I have had the same fears and my spouse is convinced that my sperm abnormalities (had a test, slightly low count and movement was a little low too) are due to diapers. Cut way way back. Still haven't gotten pregnant after months of minimal (comparatively - most days and all night every night) diaper wearing. It's frustrating but I'm not convinced diapers are the cause either. Seems like weight or diet or age would be a more likely impact.
