Thread: Time out room?

  1. #1

    Default Time out room?

    So,

My gf and I have been thinking of a time out room...

Yes, my crib still isn't done...But will be soon enough...

    So, the time out room...

Just a small room, like 12x12' with padded floor and walls...with a few stress removal toys too, like blow up beach balls, stuff to throw, etc...

This has actually been on the list much longer than my crib...

So, it's just a place you can throw a temper tantrum and not wreck the house...

Looking at wrestling mat for padding, and just plywood under that.

My gf want to use it too...most likely after we have a fight with an effigy of me to destroy

But, seriously, anyone ever do this?

I would love to have such a room. With my temper, I definitely need it.

SOUNDS AWESOME.. I had a large closet sorta like that once... but just with blankies on the walls.. and old stuffed animals and soft blocks...

I'd actually love a place to just smash things. Seems like one would need a rather large home to accommodate having a whole room dedicated to it though.

Yeah, pretty much. One could also learn to behave properly, right? It's a matter of character, I guess. Or am I just a rarity? I rarely feel the urge to smash anything. It doesn't help anything in any way for me.

I'm a bit too oversensitive to when I get into trouble (even if I'm in a slightly "little" state), so I'd just go in that room and cry like a...well, baby

I guess it depends on your needs. I don't think I'd need a time out room - usually a corner would be enough for me. Although a room of soft walls and balls to throw around would be an awesome place to play! So I think a room like this would be fun, but for different reasons.

    Ok,

    I'll try to answer...Each one...

Yes, I do have a large house, and the room to acomodate this...Not a huge room though...My GF has the big office/studio at 500SqFt...

But my theater is 1000 so thats ok, I hang all my guitars in there...

Next, yes it will be a place to just get the frustration out...Scream, yell, throw nerf balls, whatever...Sometimes the gf and kid will break bottles out back of the shop...There is a large concrete pad on teh back side...just old junk or non returnable bottles...I scrape it up with the bobcat easily...

As for name, i went with time out room, you could call it whatever...If you need to vent some frustration...there is a place...

I have a very nice and new house, so i tend to not wreck things anyhow, but everyone has a time that they wish there was a place to just let loose!

And as others have said, it can and most likely be used for many other reasons too...

BTW: Sometimes I do blow my top, If I wasn't as old as I am I would have been labeled somewhat autistic...
