Thread: The Religious War on Gays.

  1. #1

Default The Religious War on Gays.

I have BI marked on my profile, but these days I think I lean more towards guys. I think have been bitten to many times by rattle snakes in woman's clothing. I know not all women are like that but I just seem to attract the rattle snake type. A better name for them is Takers.

To the Religious part. I do know the Bible says " Man should not lay down with another man like he does a woman." It also says " Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

I do not want my religion to tell me who and who I can not fall in love with. If I fall in love with another man that is my human right to do so.

Here is the US our Bill of rights states that Congress shall make no laws against the freedom of religion. I myself would add that Congress shall not make any Religious laws. Laws that Ban Gay marriage are Religious laws.

Who knows why two people fall in love? That fact that they may be the same sex should not matter. Love is Love and no one should be sticking their pointed noes into other people lives and telling them how to live.

Just what does Equal Rights mean if we are not all Equal.

More and more churches are changing their stance on homosexuality as we move further into the 21st century. Much of what is in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, is based on dietary and health observations, some which applied to them 3000 years ago, but not to us because we are far more advanced in terms of scientific knowledge. I would add, that when one observes the Islamic world and sees how prejudicial, controlling and homophobic they are, it's not surprising how the ancient world saw the world and human socialization.

In the New Testament, Jesus never talks about homosexuality, but he condemns infidelity between men and women 42 times, If I remember correctly.

Today we have a better understanding of the brain and psychology. Sexuality is fluid, and most people experience gender identity on a scale, much like the Autism scale. I identify myself as bi as well. Typically, if I look at diaper porn, I prefer males over females, so I suppose that tends to identify my preferences, even though I'm a married father. Sexuality is fluid.

There is a world of difference between the church and God. We understand the church all to well, either its good deeds, or its horrible prejudices and hates. We can chose which church to attend, and which to reject. I believe its a lot more important in the eyes of the infinite, whether one is a good person or not. Sexuality is merely a way we express ourselves as to how and who we love. With the world population approaching 7 billion people, God may prefer homosexuality....haha.

If god didn't want homosexuality, then why did he create and then continue to allow it?

As for organized religion, I don't subscribe to it. I consider myself christian but don't go to church. I prefer to converse with god directly and not go thru a middle person.

I have always liked looking at regular guys in diapers. Most of the diaper gals are getting paid to pose that way. I think that the State and Federal need to stop making laws based on religious beliefs. I do wonder thou if an adult adoption would get around some these anti gays marriage laws.

I don't know enough about the laws concerning adult adoption but it's an interesting premise.

I think a lot of us in this age group feel the same way about church going. I'm Catholic and haven't been to mass in years.

I'm probably an anamoly in itself that I'm not attracted to males sexually but even during my on-fire new Christian phase I could never reconcile God wanting to punish people for being the way He made them. There is a line that has to be drawn somewhere though in regards to self-control (I never did find in Romans where it's supposed to say: "God hates f-gs") but there are admonitions to prostitutes to stop selling themselves and for thieves to stop stealing, the underlying premise being that there cant be any growth if the heart continually gets instant gratification. I don't fully understand same-gender attraction but I couldn't use that alone as a reason to shun somebody. It upset me greatly when as a California resident I was asked to vote Yes on Proposition 8 - I read the summary and the first line was "removes the right" and I could not in good conscience vote to take someone's rights away that had barely been granted. It wasn't a popular decision I made in the eyes of my household but at the same time John 3:16 says "for God so loved THE WORLD"... black, white, red, yellow, gay, hetero

Surely you can't be part of an organised religion when... you don't participate in it... (If you see what I mean?)

I mean... if you agree with 11hinzvic that you "don't subscribe to organised religion", then... how can you be a part of an organised religion like Catholicism?!

And if you disagree with and reject Catholicism's teachings that gay sex is wrong (if you do?) then... that makes you definitely not a Catholic doesn't it? How can you be a Catholic and reject Catholicism at the same time?

I dunno... Maybe I'm being dumb... I've never understood religious belief... :-/

I disagree, Tiny. People can accept the overall values and beliefs of any institution but they don't have to blindly follow all aspects of it. There are progressives in every system advocating for change and moving society forward as a result. I have friend who is a staunch card carrying Conservative, for example, but he strongly supports same sex marriages, and works within the party to build alliances on this issue. As a humanist, myself, I just don't see the church accepting gays as full and equal members of their group. As I always say 'thank god I'm an atheist.'

Hmmm... So... you're saying that Catholicism isn't an organised religion...?
