Default How to know when to replace the pacifier?

I've had the same pacifier since March (it's my favorite since I got it on my birthday), but I'm sort of worried the everyday use has worn it down. The nipple is much darker than the other adult binky I have (which I bought two months later). I'm just wondering what are the signs to know when it comes to replacing the pacifier?

If it's a latex pacifier, when it gets worn out the late text it's really sticky and that's the time to throw it away.
