As you may know, we recently proposed updating the rules for ADISC, and gave members a chance to give feedback about the proposed changes.
Amongst that feedback, the thing that generated most debate seemed to be the new safety rules, which were designed to protect members under 18.
With the various differing viewpoints on what the limits should be, some members suggested that we should ask a lawyer for their advice.
Well, we are doing that.
While that discussion and research is ongoing, however, and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to temporarily suspend registrations for individuals under 18.
This does not impact existing users under 18, the great majority of which are very close to 18 anyway.
In our research and discussions, we are working towards developing a new framework, one more explicitly based on legal advice, but one which still honors our traditions.
Specifically, one that still respects our long tradition of being a PG-13 support community that cares greatly for member safety.
Hopefully, that framework will be complete within 2-12 weeks. In the mean time, I would like to thank everyone for their patience as we resolve this.
