This is just a little rant that has been on my mind and felt it could be turned into a good discussion.
With the NHL lockout still going and now currently having over 320 games cancelled so far. I am becoming more and more angry over the greed of not only the team owners, but the league owners as well. I don't understand why they just cannot agree over a 50-50 split. This is also putting my favorite game of the season at stake, The Winter Classic, for those that don't know is a game that is played outdoors and is this year going to be between the Red Wings and the Maple Leafs.
Hockey is a growing sport and has attracted so many new fans that are now leaving because of the lockout. I think the last I read the lockout has caused a loss of 200+ million dollars in revenue. Now I don't believe that hockey will die out and cease to exist, but am afraid of what this will do of broadcasting of games on TV as well as more teams having to sell out to companies to advertise (renaming of sports centers to crap like Sports Authority Stadium)
So I'm curious to see what others think about how this lockout might affect the game as well as to your thoughts on the current situation and how you think it could be resolved.
