Recently Moo has made it shown that he is interested in the idea of starting up a official ADISC Minecraft server for the whole community. Now the server is not set in stone at the moment, first he needs to see if there are enough members that will be in support of it and actually play in the server because a empty server is really just a waste.
Aside from that other factors have to be decided as well, should he run a Bukkit or Vanilla server. Most of you will know that Vanilla means running the game cleanly with no additions to the server, just using the items provided by the game where as Bukkit server allows us to add plugins that will ultimately allow a attempt to improve gameplay. The second factor is the use of mods or nots. Even with a Bukkit server in use, we could only use plug-ins and non of the mods that most of you Minecraft players use or may have heard of. If the community does decide to use mods here are some possibilities, bear in mind a certain mod might be limited due to the fact that it might make the end result boring and not allow any real progression of the landscape.
Industrial Craft: Introduces Machine Blocks such as Macerators, Electric Furnaces, Nuclear Reactors and etc.
Buildcraft: Introduces Pipe Systems, Quarries, Engines, Pumps and other Machine blocks that work in sync or can work in sync with IC to make sorting and powering up easier
Equivalent Exchange: Introduces Magic-Like Blocks that turn one item into another depending on value, objects that allow the player to move around with ease and make collecting items less of a pain. (Keep in note that with EE, Collectors/Relays will be possibly taken out due to the mix with the Condensor. Mixing these will kill Mining all together and eventually bore a player)
Redpower: Introduces bigger possibilites to Redstone power. Brings in blocks that can make the game a bit more dramatic with new machine blocks and new type of redstone items.
Railcraft: As the name implies, it improves on the Minecraft Cart system, does come in handy for longer travels in which Power Rails and Regular Rails dont cut it.
Other mods may be considered but these are the main ones that really do add fun to the game, not to mention allows more to be created.
