This is for any airsofters out there. I'm looking at buying either a JG SIG 552 or a Lancer Tactical M4. I'm leaning towards the 552 b/c I can get it used for 68 bucks compared to the M4 at 96. Any suggestions? The 552 is on amazon and the M4 is on Airsoft Atlanta.

Don't pick based on price or looks. Pick based on gearbox quality, FPS, manufacturing materials, accuracy, magazine capacity, and functionality (E.G. Flip sights, adjustable stocks).

They have pretty similar stats. The M4 has great iron sights, and comes with a foregrip. The SIG doesn't have any extras, but I could use the money I save to get either a precision sight, sling or a hybrid foregrip (foregrip and bipod built into one). And as for materials, both have a 50% plastic, 50% metal exterior plus a full metal gearbox. The FPS on the Sig is around 360, and the M4 has around 395. Both have a 80 yard effective range.

What ever you pick, the gearbox is the most important part of your airsoft gun, make sure it is all metal. Personally the top brands for airsoft guns are people like Classic Army, JG, and ECHO 1

I got mine from FoxAirsoft, (JG 614 Electric Airsoft Gun with Crane Stock) see if you have any local stores to save on shipping, and then you can also talk in person to a specialist.

OR Airsoft GI every so often these guys throw up amazing guns at super cheap prices. May want to check them out.

Well i don't know since i don't have both types but the important is how to fit your requirement. I mean like are you gonna use it in skirmish or not. If yes what is you usually play (CQB, Assault, etc) and then you pick which one is you think fit you style.

FYI: Mine is Cyma AKS-74U with Red Dot, RoF modidication, Jungle Style Magazines

The internals matter indeed but you can always upgrade them later. I'd be more concerned about what you want to do with the rifle afterwards. I do have a bias towards US-inspired weapons so I'd rather have the M4 than the Sig552 because there seem to be many more accessories to the M4/M16 family of rifles than any other weapons platform I have seen. Also the the M4 as it has a higher FPS and a full metal gearbox without modifications so it would seem it would last longer than it's counterpart. Of course it's entirely up to you. I'm an old-school sort of guy and I generally use G&G's M14 with the wooden stock.

Wow, then they're equal. I'd say do some math - figure out what you can get with the SIG with the money you didn't spend on the M4. Factor in costs like BBs and mags for both prices, and decide which is better. Make sure to read reviews!

To be honest the Hybrid foregrip/bipod are a waste on an assault rifle. You'll get more stability holding the flash protectors alone. Precision sights again are useless on Airsoft guns. Most "CQB" sights are simple red dot with maybe 2x magnification. Plus without the ability to Zero said precision sight you've overpaid for a cheap mono. I'd go with the M4 personally. Slings are relatively easy to do for them. Simble 550 cord and a carabener will be the most you'll need for a standard tac vest.
