Thread: HELP I need assistance with my pet.

  1. #1

Default HELP I need assistance with my pet.

I have a tarantula (rose haired) and was wondering...

I walked in my room from work and turned my lights on and looked at my tarantula and it scared the shit out me because it was laying on its back with its legs up in the air. I also take note to A LOT of webbing laying around the tank. Is he dead or is he molting? If he or she (I don't know the gender) was molting there wouldn't be any webbing laying around would there? Like there's A LOT of webbing laying around.

Note: I do take note to VERY SLIGHT movement with his legs and body area but its VERY SLIGHT.

Also my room is in the 85 to 95 degree range would he have died because of the heat?

Doe's anyone know about tarantulas or have one as a pet?

i don't have one as a pet but i'm sure it didn't died because the heat. There are countries with an temperature of 104.

Also spiders can die if they are really scared.

    1) A tarantula won't die from excessive heat. They're tropical creatures.

    2) Lying on its back means it's molting. Don't touch it, don't mess with it, just let it be. Yes, the webbing is part of the process - they make "beds" out of their webbing in preparation for this process.

    3) If your tarantula was dead, its legs would be curled up underneath it like a ball.

I never seen any webbing laying around in massive amounts. This is my first tarantula by the way. Yes I do handle it

That's because they only do the massive webbing thing when they're getting ready to molt.

I have come to conclusion (seeing two bodies) that he is not dead but molting
