Thread: Wetting Bed Cause

    Default Wetting Bed Cause

A new study appearing online in Urology on 1/30/12 revealed that kids who wet the bed the cause many start with their bowels.
If the kid had stool in their rectums it pushed against the bladder and reduces it capacity to hold urine and they wet their bed or diaper. The study ages ranged from 5 to 15.
Could this apply to adult bedwetting?

Thanks - I don't think this is startlingly new information, but it would be interesting to know if there is information about the frequency of unpassed bowel movements contributing to wetting problems. I am not sure it is the whole story as mostly when the bladder is under pressure people do tend to wake and a lot of wetting happens when the sufferer is no where near to "bursting point" because the physical limit of bladder capacity has been reached.
