As a techy-nerd people always I assume I'm running heavily modified / custom built mega-rigs. I'm actually running a plain Macbook Pro It does everything I could want from a computer though, so it works for me.

13" 2011 model (free upgrade from Apple)
    2.7GHz Intel Core i7 Processor
    4GB of RAM
    500GB HDD

It runs Mac OS X and a couple of Linux virtual machines most of the time. I do have it hooked up to my HDTV too for when I need a larger screen. I would like to upgrade to an SSD at some point but otherwise I'm loving it.

Witch of space. My current rig.
    2.9ghz quad with 4gb of ram and a 6870.

Looking at upgrading the HDD's next then the mobo cpu and lastly the ram.
Want that new i5. :3 Total cost for upgrade 400$
    60$ Mobo
    40$ Ram
and later when the price is right I'll grab a 200gb SSD.

    Laptop- bed head
Single core intel pentium 1.6ghz 2gb ram intel 945 gpu thingy

    Desktop II- Office
    Intel core2Quad2.4ghz
    2gb ram
    HD 5550 1gb gpu
    160gb 2.5" HDD

Deadhub(my remote system for files when I'm outta town.)
    Intel atom 1.6ghz single netbook.
    512mb ram
Diskless unless i hook up the external.
    Runs off a flashdrive. :3

What I'm looking at now is a tabletpc off ebay for drawing.

le1600 looks nice but there's another that If I can win the bid on will be better for cheaper.

That must have been really expensive, wouldn't even surprise me if it cost more than the laptop itself, but damn, it must make for a nice computer.

Edit: Noticed this was my 300th post. Cool.

its a Macbook Pro, so no, it wasn't as expensive as what I paid for the notebook, but id say it was about equal to or a little more than what my notebook is worth in resale value. it might actually have bumped up the resale value of the notebook by several hundred bucks. I consider it a solid investment though because I've had this macbook for 2+years now and it has traveled across the world with me without ever missing a beat. I would have had to likely replace a windows based notebook long ago. and since its still under AppleCare until the end of 2013, if something should fail and can't be replaced, Apple will likely upgrade my notebook to the latest model. (this is pretty common practice with long standing applecare) then I can just pop it into a new macbook, ready to scream. if not, ill just buy a 2011 main logic board with SATA III and put in in this body. either way, the SSD goes with me so its worth the money. but don't think I didn't have to save up for it.

    My epic rig is:

    Intel pentium 4 3.00GHz
Nivida GeForce FX 5500 w/256 mega bytes dedicated
    1.75 Gigs of DDR2 RAM
90 Gig 5200 rpm SATA hard disk
2 CD drives w/ 1 being a DVD as well
    Floppy Disc drive
    4 USB 1.0 ports

We call her the Monolith after the Monolith in "2001: A Space Oddessy". She runs Minecraft, Baldurs Gate, and Starcraft. Pretty awesome, eh.

My Dell Studio XPS 16 is an awesome looking laptop with perhaps the most unique design ever.
