I had to look up the specs to find out. According to, my desktop(Dell Dimension 8400) uses a Pentium 4 processor and my laptop(Dell Inspiron 1100) uses an Intel Celeron processor.

My laptop: Pentium Dual-core 1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 Cache

It's not that impressive, but it's good enough.

    This box:

    Intel P4 @ 2.4GHz w/HT 800MHz FSB 512K L2 Northwood Core

Intel P4 @ 3.2Ghz w/HT 533MHz FSB .. not sure of the rest offhand since I didn't get to choose the CPU myself .

    Dual Sun UltraSPARC II's @ 300MHz, 2MB L2

2.2 GHz AMD dual core. I kind of want to replace it with a 2.6 Ghz AMD dual core but I am sure it would just be better to wait for my next build and get a Intel quad core.
