Over the last few days, I've deployed several new anti-spam measures, designed to keep our boards clean.
The first measure detects and blocks known spammers when they try to register.
The second measure adds a requirement that you must be an Established Contributor (or higher) in order to post links in the forum. This should stop the spammers that sign up in order to post their links.
The third measure adds a requirement that you must be an Established Contributor (or higher) in order to use BBCode (links, custom font sizes, images, etc) in a blog entry or comment.
Lastly, a note to spammers: you are wasting your time.
All links posted on our board are tagged with the "nofollow" HTML attribute.
This attribute ensures that search engines ignore them.
So, trying to spam our board to promote your site is pointless, because the search engines have been told in advance to ignore anything you post, and our human visitors are too smart to click on your spam.
