Thread: Why does the UK suck for diapers?

Unhappy Why does the UK suck for diapers?

Or nappies, before anybody makes the "because they're not called diapers" joke.

I have a brilliant opportunity tomorrow to go and get some and get them home without people noticing, but the only thing I'm pretty certain of getting that will fit is drynites. You only get adult sized things in big supermarkets or boots stores and what you can get, by all accounts, tends to be on the awful side.

As for ordering something, I live with parents who don't go out often. It is an impossibility.

I'd be interested to know any brits who regularly manage to get proper adult diapers and how. Or any help in general for getting them in the UK.

I've heard it's because of the way the health care system works there. Since the government covers most medical costs, people who are incontinent just get their supplies through them (I'm guessing via mail). Because of that, there's not alot of demand to carry them in stores.

I can reccomend about 85% of the Tena range. The adverts always aim them at women and the like, but seriously, they are comfy, hold alot, and are reliable - The price however, varies, but can be expensive as they ARE good quality, I'm fortunate enough that I get mine mailed to me by my Aunty.

    ^ What he said.

The only adult nappies I've ever bought were the Boots ones. But then I've also been given some proper adult nappies from generous people too.

My new method of getting nappies is to just play the waiting game... Order them from the internet when I've moved out.

If you have the nerve and guts, your best bet would be to check out Boots range, as you mentioned, if the Tena are too expensive, well, at least you'll have an idea of the variety available to you. Then come back and throw some names at us and we'll throw our opinions back so every penny goes to something you won't regret.

Well I'm going to a boots tomorrow, but I can't be certain as to how much of the stock it has. I've just got to hope. Where do you get tena, money fortunately isn't too much of an issue. And which parts of range can you usually get.

Boots or a pharmacy, usually. Hell, even Asda once in a while has them in.

I order mine over the web. If my mother asks. I just say it a computer part.

    Try specialist shops.

Unfortunately I am unable to order things, having never done it previously. It looks suspicious.

Start out buying something small, and get your mom used to things comming in the mail, after 1 or 2 packages she won't care.

Get something like a shirt, or just something you need or like and tell her it was a better price on the net, and mention how much you saved(even though you probably didn't) and she will think you are thrifty, and out to get the most for your money, parents like that kind of stuff.

As far as the package delivery people they don't care it's just another package to them.
