Finally, some action this summer! Usually Long Island has the plethora of thunderstorm waves during August, but we've always gotten skimmed and haven't gotten anything really fun.

So, the next two days it's party at Jones Beach. Bring on the 40mph winds, bring on the heavy downpours and sick lightning I'm ready for it.

FYI: I'm a weatherbug. I love storms. No no. LOVE storms.

Apparently Danny is going to get *stronger* not *weaker* like most would expect, because it'll hit the jetstream nicely at the perfect time to give it some turbo G_G

    BRING IT.

    EDIT: Nevermind, stupid SSL >_>

OH...DUDE!! Are you serious??? Take it from someone who lives in an area that is prone to get hurricanes you don't even want a tropical storm passing over where you live. I went through several hurricanes since the "big mama" hit my hometown in 2005 (August 29th.). I went also though Hurricane Ike and Gustav last year. There came way too close for comfort here.

Tell us this post is a joke!! Be careful what you wish for because it just may come true!!

As far as I'm concerned all hurricanes and tropical storms ought to stay well offshore and out in the Atlantic Ocean and never cross any land mass.

This is nice, we even get a nice little.. appetizer ^_^.

Nice big somewhat-strong storm system moving through our area in the two days before Danny arrives.

Mother nature, I love you. 65F today too, mmmmmm AMAZING. Two days ago it was 90 and now I'm wearing a sweatshirt. =D

And to be honest, I really really want it to be sick. I can't wait.

What zekk said. Hurricanes really AREN'T that fun. Sure it's fun to be out of school for a week, fun to have the cooler weather that rain brings, but you don't want a hurricane. If you want a lot of rain, hope to get the feeder bands of the hurricane, but not the damn thing itself, dude!

    Reasons hurricanes AREN'T FUN:
FLOODS. and i mean BIG floods. feet of water sometimes- look at what Katrina brought to New Orleans. Houses were up to the roof deep in water.
Tornadoes. ESPECIALLY near the eye wall, and the upper right quadrant of the hurricane itself.
Lots of thunderstorms from the outside bands especially. Thunderstorms = lightning, which can and often do = fires. Fires + hurricane = fires spreading because of the wind.
High winds causing a lot of damage. Like this:

I used to live in that apartment complex, before the storm struck. It really isn't that great trust me X__X

BTW there's a huge cone of possibility with Danny. There's a high chance it could go either way of that cone- it could not even come close to hitting you.

Dude, trust me. Not all hurricanes/storms are bad.

We could definitely use another storm. The winds wouldn't be needed of course, but the rain, yes.

Ike was pretty bad, no doubt about that. But it did give us a lot of rain.

Yeah, I will third the "Hurricanes are not fun" thing. I was in the area that took a direct hit from Ike, got hit a bit off by Gustav, and got heavily clipped by Katrina and Rita Not fun, particularly the no lights and cleaning up the damage parts... Now, a tropical storm- that's different... yes, still dangerous, but we could actually use one right now, as we are super dry...

The storms we get here in the north are not that bad we get lots of rain and not much wind, it is the winter storms noreasters that can crippel everything.
