Thread: Can They Stop Me?

    Question Can They Stop Me?

There is this store, it's sort of well known, I guess. Spencer's Gifts or Spencer's. Well, anyways. This isn't an adult shop (well part of it can be considered one), and is open for anyone to enter the store in the mall that it's in. It happens to sell adult/sexual novelty (like bondage gear). Does this stop me from buying it, if the store is open to anyone? Can they refuse me from buying bondage gear?

Mods: Move this to where you see fit, I wasn't sure where to put it. I think this is the right place though.

Hmmm...that's a good question. I know I couldn't enter sex stores until I was 18, but...Spencer's is a different deal. I would think as long as you acted confident, like you weren't doing anything wrong, that you'd be good to go.

Hilarious. Not old enough to purchase a porn DVD, but old enough to mimic the actions. lol

Usually they have separate sections for 18+ stuff, so you should be fine... Clothing is clothing, its not like a explicit video or something...

You might have to show them some kind of ID for it. Usually they keep the bad stuff in the back section.

Yeah, I got to thinking about it: worst case scenario? If they ask for ID, just shrug and walk away. They can't do anything about it.

I think if the item you want is out for sale, and there is no sign saying adults only, you will be OK.

    Yumi:

Is the age of consent in Canada 16? If so, then I'd say probably not. My logic is that if you can consent to sex, why would you not be aloud to buy sex-related paraphanallia? Kinky gear should be legal then. Here the purchasing age is 18.

But then again, laws are much stricter. Just try. Even if you can't, what is the harm in doing so?

I've wondered the same about adult "toys" from there... Any ideas there? [I mean, they do sell them as "massagers" or whatever... So that's where the predicament is.]

I would THINK that you should be allowed to buy them at spencers. I mean, to put it bluntly, and yes, my next comment probably belongs in the mature section, but if you walked into a pharmacy and wanted to buy condoms nobody would stop you. I think the issue with "adult bookstores" restricting access to those 18+ is that they carry pornography. Seriously, I have seen what they have in spencers, and that is by no means "hardcore" stuff by any sense of the imagination. I mean, you can go to Toys "R" Us and buy toy handcuffs, at least you used to I think.

I say go and buy whatever you want. If it doesn't say 18+ only, then they shouldn't give you an issue.

Hmmmm. That is a great question. Although I think they might card on the adult material. Then again I can be completely wrong. If you are like ten then ya they might say something... but they just can tell you no.
