I'm currently beginning to write an AB/DL themed story that's purely fictional, although I'm not quite sure what I need to do to make it entertaining and worth reading to the end for. (Now obviously as an AB/DL story goes, it's going to include diapers and what not.)

...But honestly, other than that, I'm kinda stuck.

Does anyone have ideas on what I need to include?

I think I always had a central point that I wanted to expand, when I wrote a diaper story. Ask yourself, suppose the story wasn't really about diapers, what else would it center around? Who are your characters and what makes them interesting enough that you need to tell their story.

When I wrote "Coffee Stop", I wanted to explore the more real story of when my mom made me see a psychiatrist at a residential mental facility after she discovered my diapers and gay porn. I was terrified going by myself the first time, having to say yes, I like wearing and wetting diapers, and I'm having a sexual relationship with my best guy friend.

When I wrote "The Un-training of Stanley Kaminsky", there had been a lot of talk on this site about diaper hypnosis tapes and whether they worked. I thought it would be fun to explore the extreme possibilities of hypnosis tapes working, to the point of destroying one's life. I enjoy writing in the scary genre.

So ask yourself, why is this story interesting to tell? Who are my characters? Where are their strengths and their weaknesses. Remember from English class that every story has a rise and fall in action and that there has to be some sort of conflict and resolution. I'm non-confrontational, so I've always had to force myself to have my characters get into conflict with each other.

I just finished my first ABDL story, which I'm posting right now in the Story subforum. I relied on personal experience, mainly, but I guess it all depends on what type of story you want to tell. Like dogboy said, it all falls back on the way you're conveying the plot and the characters.

I am a professional writer and I have published stuff and won an award. So yeah, I'm pretty well verse on this. Sorry, had to brag haha. Anyway, all you need to know is that you need to write what makes you happy!

For me, the primary things that make a good ABDL story are pretty straightforward:

1.) Realism. How many stories magically feature houses that JUST SO HAPPEN to have fully stocked, adult sized nurseries that just happen to be on hand at the time? Please. Believable stories are vastly more relatable. Even if they feature wild, out of this world characters/settings, they can still be relatable.

2.) Good character development. Stories that use the main character(s) as just a vector for diaper-related hijinks are a dime a dozen, and they all suck. The best stories I've read are ones with memorable, relatable characters that you genuinely care about after reading a bit.

3.) Use diaper content sparingly. Too much 'diaper' stuff can quickly get old and overpower a story. Sometimes, especially with diaper-related content--subtlety is king, and less is more.

I'd be happy to! :) Do you by any chance have any that stick out in particular? I'll give em a go gladly!

EDIT-

HOLY balls, nevermind! I just fell face-first into 'Who We Are' and I can already tell, less than two chapters in, this is a story of the kind of caliber than I'll be insta-binge-reading.

I'm now going to spend then next 5 minutes shaming myself for not stumbling upon this brilliant story sooner. Gah.
