Nervous about posting photos

Having played a bit with face recognition software through work, DEFINITELY don't post your face, even blurred out. It's almost trivially easy for someone to match that against ANY other picture of you that's out there.

If you must post anything, post ONLY stuff you'd be 100% happy for your friends, parents and employers to be shown, and avoid ANYTHING identifying (faces, places, etc.) so you could attempt to deny it if you wanted to.

And remember: Things you post on the internet are on the internet, everyone in the world WILL be able to see it somehow someday.

It seems to me the typical vicious circle is first a compromising pic is uploaded, stolen, reclaimed, exploited, shared on a mass platform and in the worst of cases finds it’s way into familiar eyes from your personal life or becomes a viral mocking meme... The best alternative is to take a pic with no traceable background elements and use a blur app on your phone to double blur any noticeable jewelry, piercings, tattoos or birthmarks and then post for public viewing just as a secure measure with no gamble involved.. it’s easy to blur and send a face later, no so much to stop a viral meme of you in your underpants.. true facial rec software is coming a long way and it will always be a risk to put anything personal on the internet. The fewer the variables though the safer I feel personally.
