Default Welcome to the Self Indelgent Enterprise we call America...

Yep this wolf is pissed the hell off......I'm sick as most of you know...I'm not allowed to drive so work is out , and today i got a bill from my ER visit....1000 bucks.

My tests that i HAVE to have are gonna easily cost 3-5k more...and I have no Ins.

A thousand bucks? Just wow... That's expensive. I'm sorry to hear that. Being sick should be enough, not having to be ruined because of it. I hope it works out for you as best as it can. Both concerning your health and the financial part.

Why does anything medical cost so much? It's one of the things that should really be free for everybody in my opinion.

Private health insurance is definitely one of the things I'm going to get when I'm out on my own.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out the other month and I paid:
    $1300 surgeon's fee
    $245 anaesthetic fee

All in all, I got $918 back from my health insurance fund (private fun paid by my parents). Private health insurance may be expensive to pay for, but it's certainly worth it in the long run.

I thought Aussieland had a national healthcare scheme in the European style. Am I wrong?

I'm sorry Fire Lupin06. When I had my visit to the ER a couple of years ago, I paid about $1500. I shouldn't have gone to the ER, but to a specialist. It would have been cheaper. This is why I believe we need some national health care plan. It will be expensive, but as a society, we have a responsibility to help each other. Everyone deserves good health care, and it shouldn't bankrupt them.
