So now its official...abriform m4 plastic backed is being cancelled from 15th of september.

For me this is horrible as I have never tried anything is good as m4.

Do you have any tips for a better or equal diaper?

Where did you see this? They are still on DiaperBuys.com that's where I get mine.. Hopefully it isnt true.. Its the only one I get

Seems unlikely they would stop making their best selling premium diaper. Like a burger king without burgers.

Yeah I agree..

I have no doubt their bean counters have ran the numbers and have determined this is the best business decision. It's mostly about total cost of each piece compared to total revenue per piece, though there's more to it than that. (like your own products competing with each other in the same market, diverting of available resources from other products that have lower margin but higher sales, etc) Any good CFO has a lot of very smart market analysts working under him.

As many have pointed out before, we're a niche market, and we can't expect the masses to cater to us at the expense of their larger markets.

Do you have sauce on this? Because this has been a rumor that's been swirling around for quite a while.

I usually buy a pack of L4's off Amazon about... once a year. In the days before telling my mother about wearing diapers, they were my most affordable, easiest-to-sneak-here option for a high-quality diaper.

Whats the difference between the M4 and the Abri Form?

It seems as though in the US they will NOT be discontinued. This comes from The Diaper Fairy. If you're not familiar with the Diaper Fairy, they are a brick and mortar store that sells ABDL diapers in NY. They seem to have the inside scoop. Anyway, here's the link to their Tweet on the matter...

Well truth is stranger than fiction sometimes.

It was confirmed a bit back and I made a thread on it, multiple suppliers, including XP Medical, Rearz, and SaveExpress have confirmed.

Granted this is not the first time Abena has discontinued them, they did a few years back and the reintroduced then a few months later. So you never know.

There isn't, one in the same, the actual model is Abena Abri-form Classic. M4 and L4 were just a designation code for size and absorbency (Medium/Large, absorption level 4) only level 4s were plastic backed, but used to be 3 and 4 up until a few years ago.

"Classic" was when they reintroduced plastic backing as the Abri-Form was changed to cloth backing at the previous plastic discontinue.

So for example an Abena M4 is just shorthand for "Abena Abri-Form Medium Level 4 Capacity" and Abena S3 would be an Abena Abri-Form Small Level 3.

Abri-Flex are their pull-up model.

Same here.....but these fit me perfectly :/ I have tried almost everything when it comes to regular and ABDL diapers and nothing fits as good as these :/

Yeah same here too. But during the great recession abena decided to cut as many corners as they could to save on cost. Overnight they went from premium to problematic.

To make things worse, they saw sales go down so they decided to "improve" them with cloth-like covers and thinner padding. Now they are trying to become direct competetors to depends, by eliminationg the last semi-decent diaper they have.

We have a word for executive decisions lile that. It's called moronic.

Here is how I think it works, Abena no longer produces the plasticbacked as a mainline product, I've not got a single pack of L4 that was not manufactured in 2015, however I am guessing Abena will do a production run every now and again to replenish stock of the plasticbacked nappies for the distributors that demand and have committed to sell them.
Save Express tells us that production has now stopped, ye but how long was it running for anyway? 24-48 hours? enough time to produce enough supply for their now limited non mainstream suppliers.
By Save express announcing this they'll see a boom in demand, and $$$. SE have done this at least twice in the past, making me question their business ethics.

I have to agree with aleakyboomboom, it seems every year or 2 since I discovered abena m4/l4 12 years ago they say they are going to stop producing them but it hasn't happened yet and I am not going to buy it until they are actually gone. I honestly believe it is a marketing ploy to get people to spend more money. I could be wrong but I hope not since these are one of my favorite diapers.

SaveExpress... I see you're from Sweden. That's probably it - I heard a long time ago that Abena was discontinuing the plastic-backed diapers in Europe only.

To add to the above, M4 designates the size (M for medium) and capacity (4 -- the highest level) of the diaper.

Abena is the company, and Abri-Form is the brand name that applies to the all-on-one slips that were previously plastic-backed, but were officially* switched to cloth-like backing a few years ago. Around the same time, Abena announced a new range of diapers under the Air Plus (aka Premium) brand. These are identical to the (cloth-like) Abri-Forms, but with a breathable backsheet and elasticated tapes. (Ridiculously unnecessary "improvements" that make for a clammy, saggy diaper.)

When Abena decided to temporarily continue producing the plastic-backed Abri-Forms in sizes M4/L4 only, they decided that these would replace the cloth-like backed Abri-Forms in those sizes.

Presumably, now they've looked at the sales figures, the cost of re-tooling and ordering PE sheeting for smaller ad-hoc runs of plastic-backed diapers, and realised that it makes financial sense for them to drop the PE-backed line.

Abena aren't a small specialist company dealing with a niche client-base. Their factory is probably designed to produce very high volumes.

I dunno. :-/

The plastic-backed Abri-Forms are such a classic diaper. They are the most reliable, comfortable, leak-resistant diapers I've used. If I was incontinent, they're what I'd use.

If I had more business nous, and Brexit wasn't hanging over our heads, I'd approach Abena to see if I could buy their PE-backed machine and produce them under licence.

I've just bought 7 cases of plastic-backed Abri-Forms (98 diapers!) so they should last me a while!
