I've noticed that the audio sounds tons better in ubuntu than it does in windows. (well in linux in genreal)

I'm not too sure for the reasoning, but it seems more "HD" and higher quality.

I doubt it has any notable difference. If it does then you've got some great ears :p

Windows has drivers that set limits on your hardware.

Linux is software only limited by your hardware.

CDs and great speakers sound even better. I have Infinity tower speakers and a Polk Audio sub-woofer. Analogue sounds even better but you either get cracks or hiss depending if you're playing vinyl or tape. That's why I play CDs.

There is, I think it's because of the driver windows uses by default.

Nope, must be the alcohol.

Hmm, never noticed that before. Once I upgrade my hard disk to a larger one I need to install ubuntu again and give it a go, I'm always looking to get the best sound out of my speakers ^_^

Wow, just found my ubuntu disc so I booted into the live CD and you're right! I've already got some good speakers with their own amplifier and a subwoofer hooked up to my PC so from now on if I want to rock out to some music I'm using ubuntu ;)
